Can't get excited by the F-35.  Feels like Lockheed have conned the West.  Mind you, I think the MOD were wrong to buy the STOVL version - Harrier Mafia won that fight.

Typhoons, Gripens and F-18Es get my vote pending something better.

I don't understand why people don't like it, having seen one for real up close I think it's a cracking little plane.  I'll definitely be buying a couple of the 'A's I think, and if the other two versions come out, those too.  It will be interesting to see just how close Italeri got it right ----

Like the real aircraft some love it some hate it and that may be the same for the model, trouble is the F-35A is still a few years off entering front line service, once it gets operational with a more varied decal and colour schemes along with a broader war load i think more will get used to it.

Hopefully Italeri will do all three variants with an affordable and more readily available F-35B to follow next year (wishfull thinking at the moment !), from a Whif point of view it has some potential and i'm sure some on here will explore that aspect.

Yes, agree with you there Geoff, they'll need to be affordable and available.  Can't wait for the A to be released though, OOB Canadian I'm afraid though ---

Ugly, fat, GREY, boring, soulless, ill-proportioned, hideously expensive, massively uncool. That enough? The "C" version is the least offensive, having bigger wings and tailplanes and thus being proportionally much more pleasing.

Personally, I'd rather Australia went with the Rafale; cheaper, lighter, faster, better range, lower wing-loading, greater weapons load capacity, better thust/weight ratio... generally, just better!

But, there is another thread for this discussion.

So, re: the kit - I'm not going to buy one but for those who will, it looks pretty good.
