I must be more tired than I thought, as the first thing that came into my mind after reading the above was

" oh wow that will make an splendid dogfight double set"   :o
the things you learn, give your mind the wings to fly, and the chains to hold yourself steady
take off and nuke the site form orbit, nope, time for the real thing, CAM and gridfire, call special circumstances.
wow, its like freefalling into the Geofront

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.

Shame that the X-32 isn't the 'B' version, you'd have a ready made box of spare parts left over you could display next to it.

Mind you, I've got two X-35B's and an X-32A in the stash already.

As a pure STOVL design, I always preferred the X-32:

I like single-engined vectored-thrust (nothing to stop/start/clutch/declutch in flight)
I like deltas
I like V-tails
I like ugly-ducklings  ;D

I'd be the first to admit however, that it was easier to meet the requirement for CTOL and STOVL versions of the same airframe with high commonality with the X-35 design.

I've got an X-32. My intention was always to have it in the markings of the 1.JmA military discussion forum and have it flown by a penguin, which was their symbol (I've got the penguin too...). Sadly, that forum is no longer with us, so there's not much point... :-\

I've had an X-32 for ages too, but I can't gather the strength to actually open the box, it looks SO awful!  :banghead:

How good is it as a kit?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

It's actually a nice kit, typical Italeri style (I was only looking at the one I have yesterday). Just how accurate it is I wouldn't know. I'm planning on building mine as a tandem two-seater. It's a lot easier to do on the X-32 that the X/F-35 because of the different lift systems they use.

Yeah, the back-seater in an F-35B would be in extreme danger of getting sucked into the lift fan!  :o

Interesting fact about the X-32 is it used a AV-8B canopy, it wouldn't be that hard to use a TAV-8B canopy and cockpit tub to make a trainer version.

I quite liked the F-32B with a more conventional wing. To be honest the JSF competition was one hell of a cockup as the X planes were just technology demonstrators and they should have taken both designs to YF-3* status as that would have given a much clearer development cycle and possibly avoided the procurement nightmare the F-35 became as despite the LM guff and their fan boys the F-35 took virtually nothing from the X-35 apart from concepts and they couldn't even use them to develop the flight control systems, Boeing may well have been able to bring the F-32 into service better than LM in hindsight.

Yes, but think of the morale value of coming to work every day to be met by a plane that's so pleased to see you. If I was flying one, it would HAVE to be called 'Scooby'... ;D

OK, that is someone's report on how to make it accurate, I still say 'as it's out of the box' and you just build it that way, it's not a bad kit to make. For what it's worth, the X-35 kit is totally wrong in almost the same amount, my first one I started to chop it about to fix it, but I've abandoned it and I bought another one just to build OOB.
