Seen here is a 1/72 scale model of Jackal Islands' Largish Transport Aircraft, the C/AC-109. (All aircraft on Jackal Island are numbered 109 in some way or another)
Constructed from a 1/100 Heller Transall, 1/72 B-66 wings (Italeri) and box scale Revell B-58 engines. JIAF decals were made using a photocopier and some decal film.

Starboard side. Note the very different nose letters, and the 90 mm gun protruding from the sponson. The C/AC-109s were often used as both transports and attack aircraft, and carried differing paint schemes on the sides so as to both inflate actual fleet numbers and fool observers. Careful landing direction and taxiing could lead ground observers to assume it was a transport plane, only to realise at the last moment as the guns opened up that it wasn't friendly at all!  ;)

Nice.

Kind of looks like a conventional (i.e. Non-VTOL) version of the AW.681:

Ah yes, the Jackals, the sorriest bunch of loosers in the modeling community.  JMNs all of them.

Good show Alvis!

Uhhh..you don't want to know!

Actually, it is a creation in my mind where the Jackal Squadron hung out. The Jackal Squadron, not to get into an old mud slinging contest (and a few of them were ok chaps) was a group of internet modellers who (section deleted due to legal considerations) and then (section deleted due to old wounds best left not reopened) and also were know for (section deleted due to extreme poor taste of passage). And then some!

They were/are a group of modellers who were very exacting in their outlook on modelling, and a few members became embroiled in some nasty online exchanges over the manly art of plastic toy building! And..needless to say, weren't too keen on whiffs, altho a few DID express admiration over some stuff on one of ARCs early silly weeks. Like I said..some were ok guys, some weren't.
And this is a model I made LONG ago in a moment of mocking.  :o
And I'd prefer we not get into any rants about them..please. :)
