This model has been sitting on my bench for a while now, i bought this airfix 1/144 scale Boeing 727 a few years ago, and has been painted in an all-white color sheme with USAF markings.

i just started to upgrade this model, just to bring a little life back in this old bird.
one new thing i already started on is a 2-tone grey color sheme.

still to come are new USAF high-vis markings and a pair of HDU's on the wings.
Maj.com file storage is down at the moment, so i cant upload the images right now.
but when its up again, im gonna show you the Before-after pics  B)

its looking cool though

a closer view of the flying boom at the rear of the aircraft.
it was made out of a spare pitot tube from a 1/32 Mig-21MF kit.
this boom is to be removed and replaced by a new one

Focus!  That thing looks too great to be blurry...the two tone scheme sets it off perfectly. Always nice to see an old kit get the treatment.

Looking cool! you gonna put buddy stores under the wings? There's lots of room. ;)

If you wanted to be a little different you could pass up the USAF markings and give it some kiwi ones - say the RNZAF udates their 727s into tankers after the arrival of the F-16s.

All hail the God of Frustration!!!

Actually not that implausible.  According to the design history of the 727 that AIAA published, the necessary structural provisions to build and fit out such an aircraft were included in the basic 727 design.

OK, made some progress, but i decided to leave the HDU pods out, to use them on a later tanker aircraft (possibly a A-320/30 or a 737/767)

first decals applied, nose been painted black in a KC-135 style sheme, grey underside is aplied, and the new boom has been fitted.
the Boom is made from a propelor shaft of the 1/400 scale carrier.

fresh from the paintshop

note the new boom instalation

I really like what you've done here Nils! I'm a big fan of militarizing civlian aircraft. If this were mine, I'd probably add nose glazing and gun turrets.    I really like your refueling boom. Seeing the aft door open like that, I can't help but imagine D.B. Cooper making his jump into oblivion and fame.

This is one really cool 727 Nils!  B)
