In the twin-tail forum, http://www.whatifmodelers.com/forum//index...60&#entry141902 , I explained this project of an asymmetric single-engined Catalina from a very old build of mine in the 1970s. Well, Cata-lina could have referred to Cata-maran (twin-float twin-engine), so the new one is Single-Lina: Singelina...
Now, I have transformed it, plastic! (making it twin-tail will be Photopaint-work only)

This is not (completely) stupid: see the Flying Boat new paragraph of my Asymmetric principle site http://cmeunier.chez-alice.fr/asym_dahu_aeroUK.htm and see the Blohm und Voss P.111 project at http://www.geocities.com/asymmetrics/

:( Oh... I thought sincerely that the Singalina had not existed, and I enjoyed much fun inventing in our what-if own plastic way   :D ... while this photograph from archives proves this was very Real, very sad. :(

(thanks anyway to the fake photograph, like classical, at http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/t...ina_landing.jpg )

Nice! you have even diminished drag, by eliminating one of the two lateral floats :)
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Fantastic picture! Great work and very clever.

Gentleman, Lana just suggested something:

"Imagine it as a biplane."

Tophe, I'll leave the work to you!!!! :P      ;)

Here is the PBY-5NZ Catalana (designed by Lana, that enriches our what-if universe...)

Thanks gentlelady...

BRILLLLIAAAAANT!!!!!!!!! How fantastic, Tophe! A million thanks!

Seeing the Singalina single engine and the Catalana biplane, the officials protested:
- Hey, we need speed, more power and less drag than on the standard Catalina!
- 3 engines?
- Yes!
- And less drag at the same time?
- Is it possible?
- Yes: asymmetric PBY-333 Catilina: a single float with an engine weight above to lean on this side, and a very short (and light) wing on the other side...:

- Are you crazy?
- Are you ordering? :)
