Doing some kit reviews of the re-releases of "star wars" stuff, I managed to find this old gem at the lhs:

What a piece of *crp* this kit is...the worst of all the sw kits, by far.  In fact, so bad that I had zero intentions of even wasting my time on it.  But, fate had a different plan for me, and when the shelf holding two meteorites crashed down on an almost (two years in the making) completed diorama of a Gatling armed APC, thereby rendering it dead, I thought : "Hey, now I have a large gun with no where to go!"
Thoughts burbled around in my head for a bit, and one day, while playing Mech4, a scheme was hatched:

New feet, modified legs, and modified "head" turret so far...a 1/72nd scale Gunslinger variant of a 45 ton battlemech!  Still in the puttysandrepeat phase (psr)

Have you noticed the delta-wing feet? :D    (sorry, I know that modellism is not only aircraft, welcome to the Sci-Fi love as well :P )
[the word "realistic" hurts my heart...]

I have seen pics online but would love to see some of the Minis in person, by local bookstore has some on the shelf and I have been tempted but it's one of those blind box things that you don't know what's inside until you buy it. Still tempting :)

I meant the backyard version!  I have the game... it is worth every penny.  For some odd reason, the link isn't working correctly...do a google search for "madcat treehouse", and check that thing out!

BlackOps

Oh yea! I have seen that!  Very Cool! I would love to drop that in my front yard! :)

Yowsa another masterpiece in the making! I always enjoy seeing your incredibly imaginative and talented builds Greg!

P.S. How did your Ar-196 diorama turn out?

BlackOps

Greg, It's lookin' really good. I like the way you've done the cockpit, I'm curious to see how you do the  canopy.

I've got to ask, did you do the styrene details before or after you read John's article on FSM? (LizardStomp link) Your balance looks just like the technique he discussed so I was wondering. I enjoyed his article and I'm enjoying your build.

Hey now!  That article kicked some serious butt...first thing I did was go out and buy a nibbler from radioshack (six bucks, what a great tool!), and yes, I thought his writing was quite helpful, a must read for scratchbuilders.  If fact, here's a link to it:
