Gekko: of course we're interested. Well, I am, at least. And that's one gorgeous drawing you have there. Much better than the SR177 artwork I've seen so far (grainy scans from old books, and amateurish line drawings in very low resolution). As for accuracy: I'm no expert, but it looks right to me.

Suggestions for more profiles: RAF (one of the squadrons stationed in Germany), German (Air force and Marineflieger naval air service), Dutch (again, air force and naval air service), Italian, Danish, and USAFE.

That profile is close enouth for government work gekko lol.

JASDF would be a very good choice as well, they were quite interested at one point.

35 quid sounds fair with a 5 option decal sheet.
I always hope for the best.

I had the exact same idea.

QuoteAnd what would have been its in-service name?  Always thought it looked like a Puffin.  Not very macho I know, but...
I rather like "Sparrowhawk". You've got the alliteration thing the RAF or whomever was keen on until the mid-1960s (ish), as well as the bird stuff they liked next. It also suggests speed, to me, and both bird and aircraft are comparatively small.

Seems made for the job, to me...

Here we go, Japanese. Licence built by Mitsubishi.

Beautiful work as usual Richard.  If you're taking suggestions/requests, how about a Swiss bird or maybe a RAAF one?

Cool! One minor point: IIRC the land-based version didn't have the tailhook or the fairing around the rocket exhaust (just above the tailhook).

I'll do a few more if anybody's interested?

Does water flow downhill ? Of course we want more, and more, and more.... :)

That Japanese one looks gorgeous Richard

And as for £35 for the kit, that's just about what I figured it to be. Very fair me thinks - looking forward to this one
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Agreed.

Aaargh - just realised - I'll need to rewrite my alternative history backstory again to fit it in somewhere

JASDF is on the 1st draft of the decal artwork, but I think it will be dropped due lack of space, but I do like the name 'Spearfish'....

Japanese low-vis.

Next will be a German Marine jet.

Also on the theoretical list is:

Luftwaffe
RAAF
RAF
USAFE

Hobbs, I've found another profile on the net and a nice painting of an RAF jet, so I may well revise the profile to include the land based version too.

Will the kit have an option for both the land and sea based jets?

Richard.

Hello Richard,

In answer to your question, the first release will be the land based version, complete with Red Top missiles, drop tanks and decals for RAF Bloodhound squadrons (thanks Martin and Geoff). The RN version is going to follow.

I been getting some really good feedback from the modelling press, SAMI are giving me space in their news section, and the August Scale Aircraft Modelling will feature a profile of the P177R in 111sqn markings drawn up especially in the RAF update section thanks to Dale Clark (looks smart, a lot like your profiles, I have a copy but I'm not can't publish it due copyright). I've also had input from Mike McEvoy at SAM who is in full agreement on the Bloodhound squadron Idea.
I'm hoping to get the first shots of the (incomplete) masters, which I will post over the weekend or as soon as I get them if there good enough.

Thanks, Colin
