Good question.

AFAIK Airfix only did one run of the /172 scale kit, and Heller only did one before them. It has its faults, which kit doesn't, but I don't think it's as bad as some of the JMNs out there reckon.

As I have one partly built (doing a Concorde B.1), I can say it's not too bad, but they did manage to completely FU the nacelles.  I found this out because the real bomber version wasn't going to have the reverser buckets install and I decided to use some afterburner cans from a B.1B (Bone). There is no way you can install two identical cans into the Airfix/Heller/Revell engine nacelle. For some reason Heller made the nacelles tapered -- not just end to end, but side to side too  --

The problem as I see it is that Heller have started the very nice curved down wing tips half way through the engine nacelle, maybe even more towards the fuselage, but photos of the real thing (which were all available when the kit was made) reveal a totally different story.

You can see what I had to do to correct the nacelles here:

the new 1/72 Gripen-C is out

testshot posted earlier: http://www.britmodeller.com/forums/index.php?/topic/234966336-172-saab-jas-39c-gripen-by-revell-released/

i like it that they have put in the option to fit a refueling probe
and by the looks of the mould, we can expect a 2-seater down the line  ;D
i hope they will update the tool it in the future for a Gripen-NG version.

im definatly getting a few of them myself, might build a Belgian one again (replace the earlier build Italeri one).
im also thinking Croatian and Genovian versions.
from the look of lower fuselage/rear landinggear mould, i think a redesigned Gripen-NG version also looks possible in the future

If anyone fancies the 1/48th Lockheed Ventura, The Works are currently selling them for a tenner each (RRP: £26) both in the shops and through their website.

Revell 2015 line up

Nice to see them do the Halifax III, hopefully they can resolve the engine width issue of the wings.

I get a very nice pic of a Fokker Dr1 on that link.

My personal thoughts: What a boring line-up.  :-\
A newly-tooled Hawk in 1/72? Why? It's quite unlikely that it's going to be any better than the recent Airfix effort. Even the old Italeri Hawk kit wasn't that bad. How many Red Arrows Hawk boxings does the world need? Seriously, they were looking for a new 1/72 jet kit (preferably with some appeal to the Brit market) and the one zillionth boxing of a Red Arrows Hawk is all they could come up with? If it had to be a small-ish jet, why not a new Alpha Jet? While it may not have the same appeal as an RA Hawk to the Brit market, at least it wouldn't have to compete with an up-to-date Airfix alternative. And it would have a stronger appeal to the German, French and Belgian market...
Oh well, at least the MiG-21F-13 and A-109 are making a comeback.

Must, then, my projects bend to the iron yoke of a mechanical system? Is my soaring spirit to be chained down to the snail's pace of matter?

zenrat

I've been wanting a Mig 21 to Whiff into a recce bird (think U2 length wings) but they've been proving scarce in 1/72 down here.  Maybe this re-pop will bring some out of the woodwork.

- Can't be bothered to do the proper research and get it right.

Another ill conceived, lazily thought out, crudely executed and badly painted piece of half arsed what-if modelling muppetry from zenrat industries.
