Only problem you might have Steve is it comes in Revell's new super ecconomy, credit crunched special small sized box

That'll be those new ones where you just add water

Equal with the Hs 129 as my fave WWII German 'twin', but I gotta agree with John, WHY the A-1 ? The A-4 was used everywhere almost to the end of hostilities..... just doesn't make sense. Well, yes it does in a cynical marketing way - Those folks who want a 1:32 Ju88 will buy it anyway, then maybe they'll by a SECOND ONE when the more popular A-4 et al came out.

Yep picked-up on that separate wingtip m'self, also looks like the engine nacelles can be easily substitued for different versions.

A thousand light years ago I built an old Revell 1:32 Mosquito and it was VAST. This thing is about 30% bigger !! Be really sure that you've got enough space on your bench to build it, and then enough space to display it.....  I didn't with that Mozzie and after just a few of weeks it got so damaged, it was only fit for wee kiddies next door to play with !

The 1/24 Mossie will be so big you'll be able to keep fish in it  ;D

Strangely my US friends sent me a dehydrated beach towel the size of an Oxo Cube a couple of years ago.  You imerse in water and it becomes full size - pray what do you then dry yourself with

A 1/32 JU 88 is a little big for me, the Hasegawa P-47 I have is big enough !
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Mossie

I remember years ago when I used to go hill walking as a kid, one of our instructors was very pleased with himself for picking one of these up with the space it'd save in his pack.  I wasn't his best freind when I pointed out to him it wouldn't be much use!

They're a bit of a novelty, but once you dry them out they become a perfectly serviceable towel, but you'll never get them back to the original size!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Quote from: Maverick on October 08, 2008, 06:36:46 PMIPMS Deutschland have put up some test-shot pics of the new Revell Ju-88A-1 in 32nd scale .  For reasons known only to Revell, they've chosen an early A-1 variant of the Junkers workhorse, but I'd guess other variants might be upcoming or the aftermarket bods will cater.

Following close behind the IPMS Deutschland review of the test shot sprue images is Diedrich Wiegmann's Revell 1/32 scale Junkers Ju-88A-1 that he built using the first and second test shots of the kit.   Diedrich has provided 17 WIP and completed images of the model on Hyperscale.

While I have no idea why Revell chose to mold a kit of this subject in such a large scale, I am impressed by the detail and the effort that Diedrich put into this model.

Probably for the same reason Airfix is doing a 1/24 Mossie and it does look a great kit

Many would consider the Ju-88 family to be as iconic as the Mosquito.  Revell of Germany are understandably playing for the 'home audience' as are Airfix with their larger Mossie.  Whilst it's odd that they'd chose the A-1, the parts breakdown will obviously lend itself to the more widespread A-4.

That said, I'd think it makes a bit more sense to have an aircraft that is 'common' rather than Trumpeter's recent choice of the EA-18G Growler.  Whilst twin-tub Bugs are common enough these days, the Growler seems an odd choice for a first variant.  One would assume a B or USMC D are on the cards, but I'm slightly baffled as to why they didn't chose either of these instead of the G.

Chris,

If RoG does what they normally do this is going to be the Italeri M4 Sherman with the 4.5" rocket battery mounted above the turret (I have the Italeri kit in the stash).  The model is okay, right up there with the other Italeri kits as far as the details go.

Just found a test shot review on modelversium.de of the new 1/144th scale Fletcher Class Destroyer Kit Number 05091 which is due for release in December 2008

Very impressive from the images.

Another kit review on modelversium this time it is the Revell 1/32nd scale Bell 206 Jet Ranger (Kit Number 04479)

This looks like the old IMC 1/32nd scale kit which was acquired by Testor's and if Italeri got involved it would be natural for Revell of Germany to release it under their own name.  The only difference I can see between the old IMC (Testor's) and the new Revell kit is the lack of chrome plated parts for the engine and some other features in the original kit.

philp

The new kits I am most excited about are the rerelease of the Star Fury from Bab5 and several Tom Daniels car kits finally coming back.
Built these in my teens when I had a car phase (I mainly got over it, thank you) and have wanted to redo several of them but they go for $100+ on evilbay and that is sometimes for someones old glue bomb with parts missing.
Looks like Rommel's Rod and the Tijuana Taxi will be back (Red Baron also shown).  Now if they would just repop the Dragon Wagon, I can be a happy camper.
