I've been looking forward to news that they would issue a new Lightning to match the quality of their Hunter.  To hear that it's just going to be that old heap of crap AGAIN is a let down to say the least.

Most people have never heard of them and Lancs, Spits, '109s etc will ALWAYS sell, cause the mass buying public know them.
Don't complain about Revell....look at what they're recently provided in 1/72nd..

I myself want the F-86D and the F-105 Wild Weasel Reissues I have built both in the past and let me tell you the F-105 is one BIG Hunk O Plastic in 1/48

J - the only small flaw in your plan is that the Hasegawa Lanc is £30 over here, the Revell one will be £20, same price as every other recent kit of theirs in the past in that class/size.  Furthermore, learned opinion is that Airfix Lanc may still be the best model in that scale, at 1/3 of the price of the Hasegawa kit!  Revell have a chance here to issue the definitive Lancaster kit.  But yeah, I'd rather have seen a new tool Lightning....

As for the Gannet, hopefully they will one-up Trumpter and folding wings will be an option

What are those Revell EasyKits? Are they preassembled/painted like the MRC/Trumpeter EasyModel line?

They're releasing a new mould NH90 in January!!      

Yeah, yeah, they're putting out a new single seat Typhoon, but I can find all sorts of EFA/JG90/Eurofighter/two-seat Typhoon kits at my LHS's, but NH90's are just so much cooler!!  I got ideas...

Uh oh! A 1/28th WWI aces kit, with a Fokker DR.1 (red of course) and a Sopwith Camel...want to bet it gets a bunch of Aussies all riled up over the old "Who shot down the Red Baron" controvesy?

As a good patriotic Canuck, you can imagine where I fall on the issue, but as a member of the Commonwealth, let's just say it was a "Colonial" effort, with no input from any aristocratic sorts! So there.

Besides...those kits suck mightily...being as they are almost as old as the dogfight itself!

Couldn't be hard to one up Trumpeter's Gannet, It does beat the old Frog kit (which I'm currently working on) but certainly isn't one of Trumpeter's more adventurous kits from an engineering standpoint.

Folding wings would be a good start, but what would be a great improvement, in my view, is an open weapons bay option with a good set of torpedos, depth charges and such.

The most exciting thing on the list for me, beyond the Gannet, is the 1/32 Piper Cub.

Revell blew me away when they took the notion to make 1/32 sailplane kits a couple of years back, but the idea must have worked because they're getting ready to put another out.

If the 1/32 Cub is a possible indication of them taking a serious dip into general aviation, that's a trully exciting and adventurous step for a mainstream company to take these days.

The reissue of the old Frog Lightning is a true disappointment. If they were going to do the Lightning on reissues, they'd have been better of with the Matchbox kits, at least Matchbox made a couple of different kits in different variants.

If they're going to reissue a Lightning, why not the Matchbox trainer Lightning version instead? I haven't seen that around in ages.

On another forum recently, a fellow snagged the old Matchbox Vickers Wellesly off ebay and said he had to wait a fair amount of time to see one show up there and had been looking in many other places while waiting. That is one of the kits I've been hoping for ages RoG would reissue.

I think if they were going to make a new tooled kit of any British bomber, the Stirling, Sunderland and Hampden's numbers have been up for a while. I'd also say Halifax, but they seemed content to do that in a reissued form

You have to remember Revell are the only mass-distribution manufacturer left in the UK and most of Europe - you find their kits in almost every toyshop.

Their existing 40 year old Lancaster kit still sells well, but the mould is getting tired. Presumably they see the market for Lancaster kits (STill the most recognised RAF bomber) as being better than that for a Halifax (and they would know how well the MB one sold) and the others are frankly not known outside those with an interest in aviation.

They also know they'll undercut the frankly poor-for-the-money Hasegawa kit

Yeah Revell is uninspired this year . No big Luftwaffe six-engined machine , no 1/72 ship not fun here. And the Star Wars stuff will probably be engraved-detailing version of the old MPC stuff if the first batch is an example.

Now Mr Revell could you please remind your ex-sister Revell-US that they have the Aurora tools somewhere in their storage room like a Moonbus , a Flying Sub  and the real Revell Boeing Space Station , Krafft-Rhricke space station and Krafft-ehricke XSL-O1 !!! Pleeeease Moonbus !! XSL-01 !!!!

Spoke to a guy on the Revell stand at Telford about re- releasing the Matchbox Canberra PR9. He was cagey, but indicated that it was under consideration for late 2007. We might be in luck (why didn't they time it to piggy-back on the publicity about the withdrawal from service?), but I'll believe it when I see it!
