Jeff,
I have two of these, sans boxes, in the stash and resin parts to convert one to an H.  Want to do a NB-52 with the other using one of my X-15 kits.

Course, would love to do a B-52I Megafortress...

Still wish Revell would scale down the 48th scale F-102 and F-106 kits as the old Hasagawa kits are long in the tooth.

And looking forward to the rerelease of Rommel's Rod and Tijuana Taxi to add to my S'cool Bus.  Now if they would just redo the Dragon Wagon.

Hi Phil,

I did have one of the Monogram NB-52 kits with the X-15 in protective custody for a short time.  Never really had any inspiration to build it and finally some silver tongued devil from Canada convinced me that he needed it more than I did.  Of course he was right and I was glad to see it go and we arranged to meet up at the Seattle IPMS show one year to do the deal.  He had no way of recognizing me save for the large Monogram NB-52 box that I was carrying around the show waiting for him to show up.  It worked and the transaction was concluded.

What I would really like to have are the right parts and pieces to create a B-52G as depicted in Doctor Strangelove.  Maybe one more kit to turn into a WHIF B-52X with four huge turbofans replacing the eight smaller engines.  I suppose you could get away with that in 1/144th or 1/100th scale much easier than 1/72nd scale.

Modellversium.de has provided a very extensive in-box review of the new tool Revell #05091, 1/144th scale Fletcher Class Destroyer kit for your viewing pleasure.  Decals are provided for the lead ship of the class, USS Fletcher (DD-445) and the USS Chevalier (DD-441).

Revell have released a B-25J with a solid nose, seems it's a re-box of the Hasegawa kit.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Looks quite nice compared to the airfix kit, might pick one or two up.

^ A mercenary carrier!  Some Freestyles or Harriers, some attack choppers, some transports choppers and a couple of AFVs -  perfect for ruining your average tin-pot dictator's day!

Tin-pot dictators have historically been among mercenaries biggest customers, so I guess its a matter of which neighbor
has the most in the way of available cash.

You're probably right!  I guess I figured if a tin-pot dictator were wealthy enough to pay such a mercenary force he would have his own military - matter of national pride and such.

G'day Gang,

IPMS Deutschland has reviewed the R-M RB-36H.  Back when I was a teenager, the kit was touted as 'the largest plastic kit ever'.

When I moved house a couple of years ago (moved three times since then) I had a problem finding a box big enough to pack my nearly finished B-36 in.  Ended up having to use a box that a washing machine was delivered in and this was how I packed it along with a B-52, E-3D and a few other large kits.  BTW, I haven't unpacked the box yet (or any of the others that are holding somewhere around 250 built models) as I've still not got the hobby room fixed up so I don't know if they survived the moves or not.

Was at a model convention near Kassel, Germany today and saw a couple of the new Revell releases for this year. The Super Hornet in 1/72 looked very nice. On a par with Hasegawa. Also saw the pre-production test shot of the MAN 10t truck, which also looked great. They also had a couple of test shots for the upcoming Star Wars Easy Kits, such as the P-38 Magna Guard Fighter, the Clone assault gunboat (the Hind-lookalike) and the V-19 Torrent. Although only pre-production test shots, they looked very nice. The gunship even has a couple of decent clone troopers, beside the pilots. There were also sprues of the Colombo container ship. Big! Talking about big: I imagined the Mi-26 Halo to be quite big, but that thing is HUGE!  :o

They had one of these stalls where you could write down a suggestion for a new kit. A friend put in a vote for a 1/72 Mirage III/5/50 family and I voted for a 1/72 MiG-23/27 Flogger family. Well see what comes of that.  We chatted for a while with a Revell representative, about what would be "nice to have" kits and stuff like that. He said, much to my surprise, that the 1/72 Hunters didn't run too well. He figured that only about 15% of their customers were model "enthusiasts" (to avoid the word "geek") such as us and that most of their sales are to "casual" buyers. I asked about a scale-down of the 1/48 Strike Eagle to 1/72. He said that might "very well be possible".   :drink:
Cheers,
Moritz

Kit #85-5527, 1/48th scale F-14D Tomcat/Bombcat
Here is a portion of the kit description from the Revell web page for this model:

QuoteArmament options include TARPS Pod, LANTRIN Pod, ECM Pod, AIM-54 Phoenix missiles, AIM-9 Sidewinders, AIM-7 Sparrow IIIs, 2000 lb. JDAM bombs, 500 lb. LGB bombs and 500 lb.Mk-82 bombs. Seated pilot or standing figures of pilot and radar officer plus two fuel tanks.

Optional decals included for F-14D Tomcat, BUNO 163894, VF-2 Bounty Hunters USS Constellation, “Last Tomcat Cruise”, May, 2003 or F-14D Tomcat, BUNO 164348, VF-213 Black Lions, USS Carl Vinson, Operation Enduring Freedom, September, 2001. Molded in light gray and clear.

Has anyone purchased this kit?  This appears to be a recent release with a number of additional parts included to allow an attempt at building an F-14B or F-14D(?).  This is another F-14 kit from Revell that expands on the previous F-14D kit with additional weapons and the targeting pod.  Remarks on another forum suggest that the ejection seats are correct for the F-14A and F-14B but not for the F-14D.  Only the builder can really make that determination.  The addition of the JDAM shapes and the two flavors of the 500 pound Mk.82 series bombs (LGB and Dumb) are also a surprise.  If you can find it for a reasonable price it might be cheaper to consider one of these kits over purchasing individual aftermarket accessories.  The catch is to find it at a reasonable price.  I happened upon this kit in a local crafts store and was surprised by the spectacular price tag affixed to the box.  I see remarks on some of the other forums that suggest the price is substantially lower but have not seen any in-box reviews for this kit so the verdict is still out.

Personally, I am glad to see Revell bringing out an affordable option (provided you find the right source) that has the advantage of allowing younger people interested in the hobby without busting the bank to buy a buildable kit.
