For those interested, I've posted an in-box review of Revell's new 1/144 F-15E Strike Eagle >>HERE<< on ARC.
Great little kit.

Cheers,
Moritz

You mention that it looks like a scale-down from their 1/48 F-15E, but do they do it in 1/72 as well?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

^ No. Sadly.  :-\ Revell did have a 1/72 kit of a Strike Eagle a couple of years ago, but that was just a re-pop of the Hasegawa kit. There's no really decent kit of the Strike Eagle in 1/72 yet. They all are more or less passable attempts at dressing up F-15Bs to pose as Es. That's why Fujimi's announcement of a proper Strike Eagle aroused so much enthusiasm.
Personally, I wouldn't mind it if Revell chose to do one of their own in 1/72. Going by the 1/48 and 1/144 kit, we know they can get the shape right and the details largely complete. And they'd probably be easier (and cheaper) to get hold of than Fujimi's kit.

Moritz

Just popped into my LMS, and they had a couple of Revell Arado 196 A-3s in 1:72 in. Haven't seen this one before - is it a Matchbox repop or something?

Ah, ok. Would that be the same as the Airfix kit, or different?

The Wooksta!

The Heller one was about ten years more modern and always the one to go for.  Better detail and fit.  Well worth the candle.

Another mystery - noticed a Revell Alpha Jet E in 1:72 today, in special AdA markings. Would this be another ex-Heller job (and if so, the same as the recent Airfix issue?) or a Matchbox tool?

Yup, Heller as well.
As far as I know, the recent Airfix boxing contains the Airfix kit. Forrest Gump, life, box of chocolates and all that. Only with Alpha Jets instead of life.

Moritz

Ah, thankyou. I must confess my knowledge of who-tooled-what is very patchy to say the least.

The Airfix and Heller AlphaJets are different to each other in various areas, I've got one of each in the stash but where there are exactly I'm not sure.
