Here's hoping it turns out to be the better version.  Can't wait for a lot of the kits on the list to make it out.  Especially the old 1/530 Essex!!!!!!

It might not actually be all that old, according to Starfighter decals Revell have had to replace the damaged tools so its a new hull and maybe a few more refined parts. He was also hinting at the FDR following as a reissue later in the year. Still would have liked to see them do a new tool mainstream Angled deck Essex in either 1/700 or possibly 1/350 as they would be much more useful than novelty or collectors items

The excavator is a limited release of 1,500 copies at €99.99, so folks'll probably have to
act quickly once it's actually available in June.

Oh REALLY???!!!  Very nice!!!!!  Yeah, I agree about the 1/700 or 1/350 kit being a better choice but the old odd scale one is still a nice size (about 20" long) and Mark's aftermarket accessories and planes, while being a bit pricey, will make a very nice build.  I look at it as a super detailer's dream that I wouldn't mind taking a shot at for a one of full hull display of one of my favorite ships.  I'll probably steal one away for a angled deck CVA-38   I want Revell to add it to their website along with the instructions so I can see what it's like.  I love that feature of their site.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

MPM.  No one knows where the Frog tools ended up.

We know they went to the USSR but not where after that.  Apparently all the Frog tools were dispersed around the country.  Most of the range was available intermittently until the early 1990s.

MIAs include:
DH Hornet
DH Mosquito (Some did make there way here to be reboxed by Novo but then vanished)
Meteor
Oxford
Hunter FGA 9
Wyvern (Some were reboxed by Modelcraft in the late 90s.  Moulds *allegedly* destroyed when the Russians flattened Grozny in the Chechen Republic.  I say allegedly as I was told by 'Dodgy' Derek Durham.  I'd rather believe Peter Mandelson...)
Spitfire VIII/IX
Beaufighter (not sure what happened to the older RAF Beau - Novo certainly repopped the RAAF one)
DH Vampire

Well, either Novo produced squillions of them or they are still in production.  Many of those pop up on EvilBay all the time.

And the Wellington that Frog made but didn't release.  How do I know, got one in the stash --- It's needed for the Unicraft Wellington Mk.V conversion as for some reason it's about 3/16" too deep in the fuselage (if you compare it to all the other manufacturers Wimpys) and the conversion fit's it to a Tee

Eh? I had a Novo one of those in a bag until 2 yrs ago or so, but traded/sold it to someone on here.

It's totally different to the Airfix one, although mine came with Airfix instructions!  :banghead:
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

What?  Well, darn!  I'd bought an MPM Wimpy to go with that Unicraft coversion thinking it's greater accuracy than the Airfix kitting - which is what Igor said it was intended for.  So now I gots to score the Novo kitting?  Well, at least I got the MPM to do straight then.  Thanks for the heads up.

T'was I.  See http://www.whatifmodelers.com/index.php/topic,30328.msg464035.html#msg464035.

I feel honoured that one of my old Loft inhabitants achieved such fame Dave.  ;D

Thanks for reminding me.

The kit I have is a Marquette kit, it has Airfix instructions too.  The dumb thing about them is that the Airfix kit builds up totally different to the Frog kit.

I was going to post a pic or two showing just how much the Frog kit is deeper than the others, but I've tried four times now and I can't get my pics from Photobucket to post on here, I'll attach one or maybe two then the computer just freezes up while doing it. Totally getting fed up with this whole pic loading procedure ---
