F-all to do with political correctness German law is explicit when
dealing with the Nazi $hit, and Revell stepped on their dick with this
stupid thing.

The truth is that there are a lot of Nazi-worshipping dip$hits who think
the Nazi UFO crap is true, along with Nazi Antarctic bases, hollow earth,
die Glöcke nonsense and all of the rest of the Super Advanced Übermensch
crap.

Revell's management have reacted as needed, especially in this age of resurgent
hard right loonies, raving nationalists, and actual effing Nazis. Frankly, if you can't
see that this is our current reality and you get butthurt over a toy ...

Squadron.

No, Squadron did the large Hannebu. This is the small Hannebu. It was originally done by Wave.
All hail 1:72!

This kit is the Head & Hand mould, issued later by Wave and now Revell though the pricing is odd as Revell are charging £50 for it and it was still avaiable in Japan last month at £25 plus about six to eight quid surface postage. Hannants picture for the Revell kit is actually the Wave boxart with a B-24 getting shot down and they are completely sold out.

Those sold quickly - there were seven in stock when I posted upthread.  Nice earner!

If you want revell's Haubenu UFO kit, you better get now while you can still find them  :-\
the company is pulling them off the shelves, the reason is just absurd  :banghead:

The kit even made it into the TV news, together with the uber-morally comments about nazi glorification.
To a certain point I can understand it, because the kit is "only" an UFO, based on a classic carburator cap fake design. The German markings are just a deliberate addition to push sales and drive the price up, since, after all, certain markings add a popular and sales-activating touch of evil to everything. But arguing that kids cannot tell the fake from history is a bit dumb and shows how little faith the old generation has in the young. Weird, but that's Germany. I expect the kit to reach triple digit Euro prices soon and become a serious collector's item.  ;D

All I can say is don't waste money on the price gouging tools out there selling these things for hundreds of (money units) right now. Chances are these will be back on the shelf 5 years from now as a generic "Area 51 Ufo" and you can buy some then and put whatever decorations on it you want.

Whether we like it or not that's right Jon. I can only assume that the kit got issued whilst the recent Revell Inc./Revell of Germany entering administration and then coming out as a new German company was going on and they took their eyes of the ball ?
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Dizzyfugu

Well, the kit only comes with Luftwaffe markings, no swastika. But some official dude felt that the kit as such would fuel nazi mysticism and fake news surrounding bases in Antarctica or on the moon. I wonder what had happened if it had been marketed as merchandise for "Iron Sky"? after all, the kit itself is not more whiffy than many other Luft '46 design kits - but Revell is probably too large to keep running under the morale radar. And when German clerks smell blood, they have to prove themselves... And since Revell fears the PR effects (after all, the thing went through prime time TV news!), the quickly withdrew the kit.

Smartest thing would IMHO be a "real UFO" color variant (Area 51 style, esp. for the box artwork!), but still include German markings as an option...  Nobody would have recognized this. Poor marketing by Revell, though, they could have known better for their home market.

Hi all
Main problem is, that Revell didn't mention this is fictitious but treated the matter in the instructions as if it was real. By giving a hint this is a whiffer all the trouble could have been avoided (as with all their "Luft '46" stuff).
