Wow! That's some great progress, Mr Howling Mouse! I'm really impressed with your work on the engine, prop, & cowling! This one looks every bit the winner!

Go, Baz, go!

Lots of swearing and complaining but it's coming along:

I sense interplane and cabane struts in the near future.

Great stuff, Baz!  B)

See, vacforms aren't that hard, Baz!

*dodges intercontinental punch*

Great work mate! But, with Bri mentioning those pesky struts being inbound, I have a feeling you're at the 90/90 stage (90% done, 90% left to do!). Good luck bud!

Peter, this kit is currently available from Don's Model Works @ $27.95 USD plus shipping.  Don bought out all the old "Wings 48" and "Wings 72" vacform molds.  It's actually a very good vacform; this one just happened to fall into the wrong hands!!   :o

See the kit at:

And Don Bennett's online store:

Okay, as noted, the Wings Vacform kit of this Seagull honestly IS a very good kit.
I've just managed to botch it up rather nicely, as the following photos will confirm.
Apologies in advance if some of the pics come up quite large but you need to see all the bumps and warts before I attempt to fix them up.

And I was going to go with a nice aluminum-painted/doped finish on this seaplane:  perfect for showing off every single flaw!!   :dum:

So, you're now wondering, "What the heck is that block on the underside supposed to be?  Has Baz gone 100% nuts and thinks that is some form of airbrake?"

It's a gap-filling piece of Evergreen ™ stock that I will trim down to the fuselage contour later.  But, yes, I have gone 100% nuts...

Another shot of that clever "airbrake" that few experten know the Seagull had...

Just a leetle bit of a step-up here, eh?

Have a look (and a laugh) at my wing-to-fuselage "joins"

And, yes, there WILL be some filling required for the tailplane insertion points!
Honestly, I post these pics just so that guys like Wolfik and LemonJello will know just how good their work really is by direct contrast!   :P

And we're into the dreaded PSR (Putty-Sand-Repeat) mode.

I think I will keep the patented airbrake piece as something to hook my eventual dual float struts on to (What, you didn't think I was going to build this with a single main central float and little outrigger floats the way it was supposed to be, did you?)

What a mess...

Mister "Mouse" ...
its time to roll up oneĀ“s sleeves and get to work! ;)
I want from this manufacturer this brewster Buccaner but its not cheap this beast!
regarsd!

More putty pics.
Hey, if I can spend hours puttying-sanding-repeat, you can at least share a minute of misery!   :P

This was stage 1:

Now, at stage 2, you can clearly see the VAST improvement (blah!)   <_<

Oh yes, Man-Ho excellent progress! I'm very impressed! Next up, cabanes and interplane struts! Woo hoo!

Go, Baz, go!

Well, p-s-r is basically done and I now find myself stymied (yes, "stymied") for a paint scheme.

Was going to do it in straight-forward "dull aluminum" with red cowl, tail and wingtips.

But now I'm wondering:
a. Did any floatplanes have "woodland" style camo or is that just dumb?
b. Would it look better in a three color USN style: blue/light blue/off-white undersides?
c. White with the red highlights?
d. Why didn't humans naturally develop greenish hair and/or skin tints to better blend in with foliage?
