QuoteWonderful result
But what is the meaning of Rescue? Isn't it only for Seaplanes rescuing sailors? Anyway, I would like to be rescued by such a beauty, do I need to be a 1/72 seaman? :D
The RCAF 'Rescue' decals are from the Xtradecals Lancaster sheet. I'm not sure exactly how the RCAF SAR Lancasters worked. Maybe they just find the punter and then direct surface craft for the pickup after dropping emergency poutine rations.

Thanks for the kind words. This was a three month ordeal that definitely would never have been completed if not for the encouragement found here.

Guy gets busy for a couple of days and starts to miss all the mindblowing stuff on the board-----I thought we had a deal around here that if anything this cool was shown, at least four of you would automatically send me an e-mailed notice to home?!?!   :P

SimonR, I would be SO proud to have something like this on my shelf.
The SAR scheme was such an unexpected, creative twist (I was expecting to see a "Jet Fort Bomber" of some sort).

Outstanding concept AND execution (IMHO).   Cannot imagine how you could possibly improve it.

And....a T-Tail, no less.

mmmmmm....

Holy crap that looks awesome!!  Simone I love it!!
Try not. Do. Or do not. There is no try.

Wow Simon that's a really impressive build! I just love your concept and execution! This one's a total show-stopper wand was worth every one of those three months you put into it.

Looks really good Simon
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

QuoteP.S. Can we get a ground level shot so we can the gear it's standing on? :)

Here you go! It's just the standard B-29 gear at the front and the Badger mains slightly jacked up.

I'm feeling a bit more well disposed toward this creation today. I like the solid nose B-29 look, it gives a very different feel to it.

BLOODY MARVELOUS! Like wolfik, I would extend the nose a bit if you do another one, but as it stands now it's incredible! Wish we had a 'we are not worthy' smiley.

It would look better with back landing gear slightly shorter

Awesome Jet Fortress!

Now we need a shot with the mutated Lanc!

That thing is KEWL

I could also see it as some ultra hot 50's Airliner if yer planning on making a fleet of them.

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

Since some folks mentioned doing another with a lengthened nose, I got to wondering what that might look like.  Here's just one possibility:

Looks good with the nose lengthened. Had you thought about a radar 'thimble' nose, to assist in searchng for lifeboats etc, for it? Radome black would make a good contrast with the NMF too.

OK ... that is *purdy!*

This place always inspires to do some mental stuff. I think I'll ditch the Skyraider for a bit and work on my F-15 Whif. heh!

That looks good but it would be really hard to add the extended nose without destroying the canopy with sanding. Then it would be a cast iron bitch to paint and get a good finish. You know what? I'LL DO IT.

Actually, what I was thinking of, and perhaps wolfik too (?), was a fuselage plug ahead of the wing.  ;)
