A friend of mine says the local Aviation Museum has some kind of 1:72 scale, mixed media kit of the DHC-5 Buffalo.

He is certain it is not the Combat Models farse and says it is from some South American mfg.

I've tried to locate any such beast on the 'net with no luck.

Anyone know what kit this might be?  It retails at the museum for $100 CDN.

Probably the same guys that do the Dash-8 and others...we've talked about here, or it was somewhere on ARC.

Which version did Hobby Craft release?

I know of a resin model that was available from a company in Australia but that was the Caribou.  If I remember correctly, the price for this kit was over $100.00 but that may have been Australian dollars.

Hobbycraft do a couple of Caribou versions.  They never did a Buffalo.  I bought a Combat Models Buffalo a couple of months ago.  It's not toooo bad, it does come with a bunch of detail parts now, made by 'Robert's Models' (not me  )  Great Models Webstore had a sale on Hobbycraft kits a month or so ago and I bought a Caribou to cannibalize to more detail the Buffalo.

Ah, thanks but you're killing me: which of the many links in there????

I tried some but many are 401, others are Spanish only, and I cannot find the models...

I don't know yet about ordering from these companies but I'll let you know next month after the 1/48 AMX A-1 comes out.  I plan on getting a few.

Thanks guys.  The FCM fella who made their decals gave me the contacts for this Brazilian model company.

I can't really afford the Buffalo kit.  But, more importantly, can I afford to NOT buy the kit...????

Hi John,

It does look nice    and I've only just got my Combat kit  :dum:

I wonder if I could get some of the nice detail bits from them <_<

Can anyone suggest what could be done with a Combat Models vac-formed Buffalo?

I'm thinking of a crash diorama...

Seriously, it's THAT bad.

Wrap it in plastic wrap.
Paint the plastic a dark greenish-black.
Park it on a ship's-deck base.

Tell people it's being delivered to Oz as deck cargo.

I've got two copies of this kit.  A friend who travels to Brazil was able to source them for me.  The good news it is a 1/72 Buffalo.  The band news is that out of the two kits I may be able to assemble one Buffalo.  One kit is missing the wing center section.  One kit has a smashed fuselage half.  The second kit has a broken fuselage half.  Fit looks...well they will take some work.  Scribing is crude.  Detail is crude.  I would have been happy with the kits...if I could have built two Buffalos from them.  As it stands...

Well it is a 1/72 Buffalo...
