QuoteOh, and some new knitting needles.  The points on my old ones have become dull.
LOL. Black Box are coming out with replacement resin knitting needle tips.

Eddie, if you want, JHM could send it to me to paint when he's done with it. Then I'll send it back to you for decals.
Oh ho, BB resin needle tips!!!!

If Eddie is comfortable with the idea, I can mail it to Simon R (whereabouts do you call "home" Simon?).
Sounds good to me. JHM will get the nose section to work on and I'll finish the aft section. then we send it to simon for final construction and paint. what do you think Simon R.? :)

Sounds like a great idea to me! I love the idea of the multi-national technology demonstrator/prototype, that's a theme I've never seen modelled.

I live in Brussels, I'll PM you both my address.

ALRIGHT!! Looks like I'm gonna actually have to do some quality work now. ;)   Here's the latest progress. The nose is removed and packaged for transport. The cut is not the best, but I'm not much of a brain surgeon either. :P I've also started tweaking the wings. I've started the PSR as well.

I'll post a pic of it as soon as it arrives.  Cockpit from Squadron should arrive in a week or so, too.

Guess what I got in the mail tonight?  Eddie's kit bits...already!  Man, that was quick.  100% intact, too.  Because the plastic was so cold (below freezing here already), all it took was a subtle squeeze and the fuselage split apart and the nose-cone popped right off: perfectly clean, too.

Eddie, do you want me to "weight" the nose-cone before I re-attach it or will your version of this design end up either wheels-up or balanced so that it is not a tail-sitter, anyhow?

I'll have more questions for you as soon as I get the after-market cockpit kit (hopefully next week?) but here is a pic for now to show the parts in current "as is" condition.

;)

If you want spats on that sucker, ship it down to me. ;)

Did I mention that I love spats?

Yea, go ahead and throw a few kilograms or whatever you metric nuts use. ;)   I'm hoping to make it a tricycle type. I was going to try and modify the gear later, but Hornet gear just might be what the doctor ordered.

I'm glad it got there in one piece. You also found out why I use CA. Easy to break apart. :) Thanks for taking the time to do this. I really appreciate it! Now, back to the many projects at hand. :D

Kilograms?!  In a 1:48 nosecone?  That's a lot of weight for such a small volume but, okay, I can do that.

Now, where did I leave my big vault of platinum (or U-235)????

Kilograms, kilotons, who can tell the difference? ;)   I'm sure a few grams will do the job. Simon R can add any that he may need when he gets it for final assembly.

All resin bits have been removed from their pour-stubs and as much as possible has been CA-glued together, awaiting primer.

Parts are okay (I think I like Aires' stuff better) but there are no real instructions to speak of, just the boxtop photo of the completed cockpit and a 4" x 6" slip of paper inside showing the part numbers.

You're pretty much on your own as to how much of each cast part you need to remove to reduce the raw parts down to the final desired bits.  And the exact placement of some parts remains something of a mystery.

But it is coming along!
