1. How are you doing now, Simon?
I'm fine now. Back at work, back on my new bike, preparing to move to Brisbane and back at the work bench. I've just started on a 1/48 RAAF CAS Gannet - I might start a new thread on it.

Really bummed about the SF getting trashed though. I think we're now entering the third year of the project, perhaps we should send it on another 'lap'.  :o

2. Eddie, have you been seizure-free so far?

3. We demand before and after pics of the repair process!

This has been quite the build so far.  In an ironic way, it is only fitting that the Master of Kitbashing ™ is once again challenged to bring it full circle back into shape!

;)
2. So far, so good. Had a weeeee little one not too long ago, but nothing serious. That was my body's way of reminding me to keep up with my meds.

3. Okay. I wasn't going to put it up because I wanted to spare Simon, but to be honest, I'm a bit embarassed to have sent such a sub par model out in the first place.  <_< I'll fix the mistakes that I can and make some small improvements that will help it along a little. Alright, Simon, close your eyes if you can't stand the sight of blood. ;) Here's how it came out the box.

"Was the box crushed? Somebody must have driven a truck over it, because I made it tough"
"They must have dropped in one or more of the corners, because the box was distorted and that's how the model came loose inside the box."

?  Did you mark the box either:-
DO NOT CRUSH or DO NOT BEND or FRAGILE etc
In my experience any of the above seems to translate into `PRACTICE MAT/BALL` to the local post office/courier judo/rugby/trampolining/wrestlin` teams, and the more shippers./handlers you pass through the worse it gets

Anyone remember the opening scene of Ace Ventura- Pet Detective? That's how I envision what happened.

When the delivery truck got here, the box was unceremoniously sitting on top of a heap of other packages that had, no doubt, other breakables in them as well. Maybe we should start using ballistic gel to ship models. That might stand up to the test. :)

They all look like clean breaks, right?  You'll have this baby back together in no time.  Nice scheme there, Simon!    :salute:

Yes. that's why I prefer CA in some respects. Clean breaks. The most time will be fixing the paint at the damaged sections.

Simon, do you remember what the two colors are that you used? Looks like an intermediate blue and dark gray. B) I'm working on right now, correcting a few small problems that I didn't take care of the first time around.  :P

They were Tamiya AS-4 (Luftwaffe Grey) and TS-32 (Haze Grey) decanted from rattle cans for airbrushing. Good to see you are rising to the challenge of brining it back!

Thanks for those colors. I don't think I have those in my inventory, but I will mix something comparable. You won't even be able to tell from several hundred feet away! ;)

As I recover from a molar extraction, here's a couple of pix. The tail after I added a little extension to the vertical stabs and another look at the outstanding cockpit done by Baz. :D

sounds like some sort of insidious attack from the future on whatiffers...perhaps the jmn's have found some sort of time device?
Thank heaven's we have skilled repair personnel on staff !

Brian da Basher

It's beyond sad to see this model in peices but the silver lining is getting to see it again as it gets restored to its former glory. It's nice to be reminded of all the amazing work that went into this project!

Eddie I hope your mouth is feeling better soon. Extractions are no fun.

BlackOps

Eddie, I swear this needs a little Humpty Dumpty for nose art!   But you have proven he can be put back together again!

Looks great.

And the thing is: he's now proven that he could handpaint said nose art, too!  Looking good, King Edward!

Thank you Everyone!

Baz,
Do you dare me to do another nose art by hand? ;) :D  For some reason, this weird idea of how I put things together in my head. I'm kinda doing what the Borg did to the creations they assimilated. Adding parts here and there. Maybe a Hornet head with a new eye or something like that for the art? Just thinking out loud.......:p
