Nice mix of Ju-88 and Ju52 there! And i like the idea of making it an engine testbed

lancer

Amazing looking aircraft. The detail is superb, as is the concept. Brilliant work.

Madoc

Folks,

What's with you guys?  I mean, sure, the model looks fine and all that but how come none of you have seen fit to comment on its obvious inaccuracies and failings?

Hell, just looking at that first picture they're all very apparent.  The engine cowl flaps, for example, are wrong, wrong, wrong!  The angle they're set open at is utterly inappropriate for an aircraft on the ground.

The use of the Luftwaffe standard radio aerials on the underside of the ventral tub is also completely wrong.  This is a test aircraft and the mounting of those antennas is entirely different!  This should be obvious to anyone who has even the slightest familiarity with the RLM VK22-M8A standards manual, revision 1943A-2.

Folks, those are but the most basic things that I picked out even as I glanced through the pictures.  Not to get too deeply into picking too many nits but if you look at ysi's choice of color for the camera mounts and enclosures, well, that's wrong too.  It's close to be the right sort of RLM Grau but not exact.  Now there's some leeway here for those standards did get harder and harder to apply as the war progressed and the RLM found it more difficult to get all the right paint materials.  It could also be due to the variance in the digital photos.

While that may be excuseable, the tread pattern on the tail wheel....

:P

Seriously though, excellent work!  Nicely done.  I'll bet you'd have more than a few JMN's scratching their heads over this one and furiously flipping through their "Warplanes of the Reich" looking for it!

You know Madoc I wasn't going to point out all of those obvious innacuracies even though my eye was immediately drwn to them and it really ruins it for me.

I mean he is a Newbie and I didn't want to hurt his feelings and all but since you mentioned it I have to agree, Is there anyway we can delete this thread until he can fix these problems, it really brings down the standards we try to promote here.
