Indeed it wasn't, and in fairiness to the old 1/48th kit with only one seat, some of the transport options did involve removing the back seat to make more room.

The OV-10A cargo bay was used in the Vietnam War to save the lives of a few recce types.

On the link below is 3 pages from "A Lonely Kind of War" on such a rescue. It is a superb book on the FAC pilots and OV-10A in Vietnam.

Thanks Greg!  Blimey, you wouldn't want to be stuck with the guy who'd had the curry the night before....
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

One interesting note.  When carrying the paratroopers, the rear cargo door was removed.  It couldn't be opened in flight. It would have been seriously windy and noisy in there.

But from personal experience, we did find the cargo capacity a great asset. You could could bring back a fair load of beer/wine/whiskey/local arts & crafts/prosciutto/etc. on your way home from a deployment.

We don't just embrace insanity here.  We feel it up, french kiss it and then buy it a drink.

They should show this to all those people who said the Charger should have won the LARA competition.

Wouldn't bronco be a useful asset over Afghanistan? Think they may also have proved useful over Oman and Rhodesia.

Its role has largely been taken over by UAVs.  There was a proposed "reboot" of the OV-10 for Afghanistan with new, modernised airframes being proposed.  However, of the aircraft considered the LAS programme it was the least likely to win because of the costs of starting a new production line and integrating all the systems.  The Super-Tucano won.
