As Feild Marshal Rommel continued his push toward El Alimein he was frustrated by British SAS and LRDG patrol's constant harrasment.
After overhearing one of Rommel's angry requests to the high command to "Give me a cat to drive out these annoying Desert Rats!"
several mechanics from the division motor pool put their heads together and "Modified" a Panzer II with a higher horsepower engine
and upgraded the armament with a 30mm antiaircraft gun. when Rommel was presented with the mechanics "Hunting Lynx"
he was delighted with the vehicles performance and asked the ingenious mechanics if they could modify more Panzer II's,
the first 6 "JagdLuchs" vehicles were so proficient at taking out the light jeeps, land rover and cheverolet vehicles of the Desert Rats
that a factory modified turret was supplied to the Afrika Korps. this turret mounted a new main weapon
consisting of the breech of the 37mm Pak 38 mated to a 30mm barrel alowing the use of a 37mm casing
necked down to fire a 30mm Tungsten Carbide armor piercing round at high velocity. The new round coupled with the Jagd Luchs
high speed and manuverability allowed the light tank to elimenate larger british commonwealth tanks, such as the M3 Grant
and the Crusader with alarming ease.

Oh, I see now: you're one of THOSE modellers (the kind that build models that simply look too good to be true)!!!

Is that a lot of drybrushing to get the outlines to stand out like that or is it pastels or something else?  Looks very much like a painting of a tank.

Incredible.

Thanks for the compliment John  ^_^ as for the weathering it is mostly a watercolor wash (the little tray of watercolor "Cakes" that the LiL ones use ) and my#1 drybrushing paint Ayleenes craft acrylic "Soft Sand" #OC 130 it REALLY makes details pop out while still keeping a soft dusty look :D

Beautiful!!!

If the main gun is 30mm, and I guess the co-ax to the right is the usual 7.92mm MG34 (or whatever), then what is the other barrel to the left?  I'm not much on German tank weapons.

The panzer II originally had the MG 34 and a 20mm KwK 30 L/55 automatic cannon (developed from 20mm FlaK 30 anti-aircraft cannon) with rare of fire of 280 rounds per minute I added the 30mm gun ( Actually a 1/72 scale panther G main gun on the 1/35 tamiya panzerII ) and the "Jerry can" and rack were spares from a DML SdKfz 251/22 Hanomag halftrack

Great stuff.....I like the little write up as well. I'm not much into German armour, so I would believe the whole story. Sounds good to me !

And I agree with the boys, beauty job on the paint and weathering, especially on such a wee tank ! Amazing how you guys can make those little things look as good as a 35th scaler.....
