Here's the latest project on my plate.  Actually, I started this one before I left on a little "business trip" for about seven months.  I'm back and have been making pretty good progress.  She's just about ready for some paint.  I'm thinking of trying for desert digi pattern on the topsides and a grey/sky blue for the undersides.

It started life as a 1/72 V-22 and a Roden 1/48 Mohawk.

Here are the latest photos:

What do you think?

The AV-22 gunship is next up to be finished, I'll post more when I get going on it.

LJ!  welcome back!  Was wondering what had happened to you.  Glad to see that your business trip went well, hope you managed to profit from your experience.

What happened to your original V-22 gunship project?

Wicked looking bit of work there LJ, she'll be a sight to see when she's finished!

Oh she's looking kick-donkey

Was your business trip somewhere hot and sandy perchance?

Thank you all for the kind comments, they are most appreciated.

Next up for this one is a little touch up on the cockpit and canopy, then I'll start working the exterior scheme and then think up a name, maybe?

My trip was to somewhere hot and sandy, but fortunately it wasn't the "big sandbox" this time...I don't know if it was worthwhile, per se, but it was one more experience to add to the list.  I think I'm down to Australia, S. America and Antarctica as the only continents left to visit.

The AV-22 is in its box, waiting to be finished (it's next), I did get some references for the guns I want to scratch for my mini-Spectre, along with some other ideas for interior details.  I think I'll be ready to tackle that one after this is on the shelf in all her glory.

Wait a second?!  You go away and suddenly show up with a concoction worthy of Eddie and Wolfik----just like that?    <_<

The nerve!!!   :P

[please keep the in-progress pics coming: the element of work as polished as yours are hard to discern once the paint hits and I want to know about all the extra bits and effort that went into your build while they're still visible]

As requested, here are some close-ups of the scratchbuilding that went into this project.

Here is the target designator, LLTV/Thermal imager, etc:

I had to lengthen the nose to give it a different shape, I'm not entirely happy with it, but its not bad for a first time.  Also another look at the IFR probe:

The main gear has parts from the Osprey kit for the dual wheel configuration as well as brass rod and styrene tube and strip to make the bird sit much higher and allow the hellfire launchers and gunpod to be slung:

Here's the cannon.  Started as a Mohawk gunpod and added styrene rod and tube as well as a little gizmology to make it look a little more menacing.  I think it scales out to around 40mm or so, big enough?  The zip tie will be the flexible ammo chute for the pod.

Side view of the sensors mounted on the nose:

I had to blink a few times when I read the fuselage is an OV-1.  It looks so dang natural with those sponsons on it!

Definately looking forward to seeing this completed!

Wow, LJ, thanks for sharing.  This is most impressive.  Your scratchbuilding is right up there with perfectomagicians like Wolfik (I'll have to send him a WIA: What If Alert).

What is the row of little dealies at the bottom right of some pics?  Missiles?

Look like AGM-114s to me...

Zip tie for an ammo chute eh? I'll have to keep that one in mind  ;)
