QuoteZip tie for an ammo chute eh? I'll have to keep that one in mind  ;)
my thoughts exactly :)

Yep, there will be two racks of Hellfires on this one.  I was thinking of going with a mixed load and hanging a pod of 2.75" rockets and only 4 missiles, but then I decided that this one was loaded to go hunting for armor or AAA ahead of the raid/landing force in standard V-22 Opsreys.

The zip tie looks like a flexible ammo chute to me, I think it'll do the trick for the scale.

Well, I'm mighty jealous!! With 1/72nd being my chosen scale, I'm getting irritated by the lack of 1/100th or 1/144th scale Ospreys that would allow me to do similar projects. Yours is now the 3rd or 4th 1/48th scale kitbash I've seen using 1/72nd scale Osprey bits, and they've all looked very, very good. Kudos!

Just an opinion, but there would be a ton of possibilities with the 1/72 Osprey and a mix of other 1/72 kits.  I've got a Spectre-type gunship coming up using my 1/48 Osprey, then I'll have to go get another kit just to make the standard troop carrier, plus I've got a four rotor, two wing transport version that I've seen in drawings.  So many ideas...

Here are some more updates.  I've gotten the interior of the office done, so I assembled the glass and masked off the windows so now she's ready for the exterior paint.  Also, I added a couple of 7 shot rocket pods to the Hellfire pylons for some added bite.  Take a look:

Now, if I could just be confident in my airbrushing abilities, I'd get some paint on this one...

Absolutely and while yer at it why don't you knock up another one of those escorts for me to accompany my Rotodyne

Loving this thing, those little extras really make the deal

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

Cool.  That last pic looks like something out of the early Doctor Who series!

Wow...is that 'thing' ever looking cool ! So brutal and ugly...just like a ground-pounder should be ! Love the way the windows in the cockpit give it that bug-eyed look...can't wait to see this one finished ! Great stuff !

Also, thanks for the tip on the zip-tie ammo belt....too simple !

Point taken, don't get me wrong, but I'm thinking of something in the size-range of a HueyCobra or Apache, which would look just plain silly with V-22 engine pods stuck on.

As for the four-poster QTR, I'm scheming one of those too - a stretched and rotor-pylonless Chinook fuselage seems ideal.  ;)

LemonJello

The Chinook idea is awesome!  I've been looking for a smaller cargo plane, in the Transall size to work the 4 engine idea, but a Chinook would give you a great starting point.  Wish I had thought of that.  Is there a 1/48 kit of the Sherpa or something similar?  It would be too much to hope for anything much bigger than that withoug going overboard witha Herc.

Thank you, I'm glad you like it. Just be sure to start with an MH-47E kit with the more aerodynamic 'pointy' radar nose.  :P  I also think switching it over to a 3-point undercarriage is a gimme, as opposed to the Chinook's 4-point gear.

Thanks another posting here, I've got a lust for that new Transall, as I think it's got tons of vertical potential!!

Regarding the Sherpa, if there is one, it's almost surely a vac-form. I've had a look at the C-130, but IMHO it's just too big. One other angle to consider might be some of the Russian middleweights like the 'Curl' or 'Cline' - I think Amodel is doing those now.....

LemonJello

Well, I could probably see my way to building something along those lines in 1/72 since there's such a lack of cargo airframes in 1/48, though I was looking at my stash and wondering what a streamlined CH-53 would look like with a pair of wings and a quartet of tilt rotors grafted onto it, in 1/48.

Back to this project.  I've got some nasty seams to work on before any more paint goes on it.  The duck egg blue is too light, I'll have to think some more on what I want to use.

Yep, Phil was in the group build that we started just for this subject over on FSM.  He got out to an early lead on the rest of us and had this beauty almost done while I was still waiting on my kits to arrive.

Update: Work has eaten into my leisure time, but I've managed to get the paint shot, camo is done and what's left is that last assembly/weathering and a few minor little odds and ends to be stuck on the bird.

I'll try to get some photos posted soon.
