QuoteWhy wait till November Baz?  That gives us a 6 week gap - need to fill it before someone else does!  I say Octember.

As for Secret Santa, that deserves its own thread, but I think I'm going to push that closer to Christmas.
Really, since these are all projects that were already "on the go," the GB start date is pretty much immaterial.

Once approved by the powers that be, the real kicker is figuring out what is an appropriate deadline that is:
a. realistic given the difficult nature of the builds involved and our procrastination;
and
b. short enough that it is still a deadline.

I was thinking up to six months but is that too long??

Ideas?  Feedback always welcome.

6 months is plenty of time.  At the end of the day, itt all comes down to staying focussed on that project.  I can usually finish a kit in a month - provided I don't get sidetracked by other models or outside influences.  My almost finished TSR2 will be my 7th of the year!

Agreed, let's do it then.  "Start-Date" October 31, 2006 with a six-month later deadline for submissions on April 30, 2007.

Who do I have to bribe to get the idea permitted on the official Group Build Forum?

PM Thorvic or Supertom closer to the time.  I would still bring it forward 2 or 3 weeks tho.

So lemme get this straight. You can now post pics of stuff you've had in progress, but haven't finished or even worked on in some time? I must admit that although I have a lot of stuff on the go I am really bad at remembering to take pics of it all. That and I'm still unpacking from my latest move.

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

It'd be a lot easier to work on my model if the cat would stop sleeping on top of the box.  <_<

Well, baseball season will be over soon, and there's not much on the telly except Sci-Fi Fridays, so I'll have time to get back to work on it soon.

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

I have a started 747 in my stash....1/72 scale vacu kit....is it a "monster" you are looking for????
the idea is great but....we must separate the gb to sea, land and air....
I dont know how to judge a ship to an aircraft....
the criterias must be like the best idea and the most work on it....

Well, one more time, due to my holidays, I missed a very interesting thread, so, here I am!!

JHM: you've got a wonderfull idea!! And for the first time in my life, I'll be in a Group Build!! It's not really the prize that give me in, but the fact that I really NEED to be motivated to finish something!!

In fact, while I was reading JHM first post of the topic, I realised that I NEVER finished a what-if model!!! I start a dozen, but never finished one!! So, help of the community will be welcome!

I'll be in with two models, I don't know if you guys remember them. I've made two "in progress" topic but never finished them, mosltly because of the lack of air-brush and air compressor  <_<
That just discouraged me...

The two "in progress" thread were about a EF-117/F-117N and a SEAD Mirage 2000.

Their is no progress on both those projects since I stoped posting on the threads... Sadly, I think I never show you pictures of my "Rhomboidal winged Mirage F1" and my Japanese Rafale B (projects even less advanced than the EF-117 and SEAD Mirage!!!:P )

Well, it will be wonderfull if I can finally finish at least one what-if model for the Group Build!! I really appreciate your idea JHM!!

And many other projects, of course!

JHM, a quick question if I might?

Can the build be one that was never in a GB?  I have the massively stalled AAC from here: http://www.whatifmodelers.com/forum//index...?showtopic=7425

and here: http://www.whatifmodelers.com/forum//index...?showtopic=7696

And I need some sort of impetus to finish the darn thing.  If it's eligible, I'm in.

Daryl J.

Although it was never part of a GB, there's a dead USAF F/A-18x on Ye Olde Workbench.   The thought was to remove certain Naval capacities such as wingfolds, completely redo the spine and LERX, and turn into an Aggressor (would that be Adversary??) aircraft.

The spine is removed and the reprofiling is started with Evergreen sheet.

It's my "I can put this down any time I want to" kit.   :P
