Ok, this ain't a plastic model, it's the first of some 3700 models. Here are some pics of the stash and some of the guys from the club doing inspections.

Are there even 3700 coalition soldier building model kits in afganistan?

Still, i wouldnt mind a stash of 3000 kits  :P

nev

I believe that may be a bigger stash then Jeffry's - if such a thing were possible ;)

They could give 'em out to local kids - hearts and minds and all that :)  But maybe not.  Every year when our church does the old shoebox thing at christmas, its always stressed to us "no toys books etc to do with war or killing" given the parts of the world the shoeboxes go to.

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

Well, yesterday 36 gigantic boxes from Florida arrived. Something to the affect of 2500 model kits, and half soaking wet. The truck they were shipped on had a broken roof seam and no one told the driver that this trailer was going back for maintaince here in Halifax. Otherwise he wouldn't have driven trhough the pissing rain storm. The guy felt like poo about it.

Good news, most of the water affected load in just mild dampness, the carton absorbed most of the water. The bad news, three or four got really soaked and fell apart. The good news about that... the plastic is still good and my clothes line had some 200 plus instruction sheets drying in the sun! I look like a counterfitter. Bag the kits when dry and find instructions and bingo bango boingo.

the only downer is that the decals were all ruined. Bummer. Water bad. Beer good, enough beer make me forget water bad. Untill I get that watery feeling in my shorts cause I forgot about water and bathrooms. Fortunately I don't drink near enough to forget water.

Ummm er, so. anyone got any spare decals they don't want?

I'll post some pics when I get a chance.
Cheers

I get enough stick from the missus for having around twenty!

Simon.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

True enough and the wife has pointed out clearly now that I thinned out my stash for the troops, I'm not allowed more than 4 tupperware containers. I just need to find 4 the size of a minivan!

Seriously, becasue all this goes to the troops, Elizabeth has been really supportive. She's even helped with inspections and packaging and such. Really cool indeed!

Man, that sure does look like alot of work !

Great stuff, Gary. You guys sure do make us proud......

And what with all the rejects ? You can always sell them off to raise funds for shipping etc.

And don't forget about double boxing kits, as well as reorganizing your 'started pile' above the bench to hold more 'unboxed, unstarted' kits ! She'll be non the wiser......
