As many here likely know, ARC is going to have a Monogram ''Classic'' kit group build.   Here are a couple of ideas popping through Ye Olde Head at the moment and I wonder if they are reasonably viable:

(Both 1/48 Monogram kits)

P-39 with P-38 intercooler ducting, armor plating around pilot and radiators, painted in Vietnam Green/Green/Tan/Grey.   Nape carried beneath.

B-29 with approximate 3-inch extension split immediately fore and aft  the main wing enlarging the bomb bays, utilizing tip tanks, prop revisions, turrets removed, and  in Vietnam Green/Green/Tan/Black.   With the left-over Superfort, making a B-29SP ground attack variant.

Reasonable?   What have I missed?

Essentially, I wanted a Tigercat, Mitchell, Aircobra, and Superfortress all in SEA-whiffery.

Thanks in advance,

Those are some awesome ideas, Daryl! I'm looking forward to seeing them come to fruition in the Pics of Your Current Projects thread!

The MO of the short-fuselage B-29 would be that of trail strafer and ground attack.   Would that mean a designation of A-29SP be appropriate?  AKA the Asp?

Since turrets would be essentially gone save for some rear protection, I'd thought of adding 3 SUU-22's ( is that the correct designation?) from the Monogram F-4C/D kit underbelly much like the Mitchell incorporated side guns under the canopy.  A smaller bomb bay with some daisy cutters, phosphorus, or napalm to be included.   Regarding engines, the 3350's were mighty fine engines and would be on-line since the Skyraider used them as well.   A prop revision would likely happen, however.     No tip tanks at all, but perhaps a reduced span wing outboard the engines?

The P-39 would be used in much the same capacity.......................albeit on a much reduced scale.

Now off to fill in the over-shallow gun troughs on Monogram's Bf-109G-10 and add some recce bits....also a US Vietnam aircraft btw!  You know that German engineering is built to last and the sound that thing made..............
