Ok here's some photos of my collection of Mirages prototypes, along with Tornado and Rafale...
First, the two VG Mirages from the late 60's, the G and G8.

I joined my French Tornado to the two... hey, these 3  are the only VG european aircrafts!

French counterpart of the Tornado was the Mirage G8. Two of them flew between 1971 and 1974, but were never mass-produced...

In may 1972, a fixed-wing G8 was launched, the ACF or Super Mirage... the program was cancelled in december 1975 and the unfinished prototype scrapped  <_<

In march 1979, the delta wing Mirage 4000 made its madden flight...

...And in 1986, it was the Rafale A!

None of these prototypes was produced, but the Rafale M and Mirage 2000 were.

French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Holy cow!  Those are great!  What'd you use to make the G, G8 and ACF?

Absolutely top notch, Archie!

Thank you, productive comrade!
This is a complicated story and building! I merged cardboard and paper with spare parts from Heller...
To keep the things simply:
- the G cockpit is from a Mirage 2000N (which gave its decals to the G8, and its exhaust to the 4000 ;) ) The rest is cardboard and paper, around a MiG-23 exhaust. VG system come from an old toy.

- The G8 was made from a MiG-23 aft body. I think I also used the MiG-23 cockpit, but I'm not sure! The nose cone come from Heller Viggen.

- For the ACF, I used a Mirage F-1 as basis. the nose cone is a CF-100 drop tank.
Aft fuselage is a tube of paper glued around two exhaust, and pushed on the aft fuslage of the F1 (this method is difficult to explain, but work well)

- The 4000 is paper and cardboard only, salvo the cockpit and canopy of course!

These models were very difficult to make, particularly obtaining a good result (the 4000 was rebuild four times, and Anigrand released its model just at the moment it was finished  <_< )

 The Mirage is just an absolutely beautiful plane with so many possibilities. Those are great.

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

Next step : another Mirage G (better!) and a Mirage F2 (fixed-wing forerunner of the G, in fact Dassault used the F2 as basis to save time and money)

Wow Archie those are some very beautiful birds you built there! Your imagination when it comes to new building methods is an inspiration!

Now I only wish I'd bought stock in the LocTite™ company...

That's a superb "historical" collection Archie
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

In case anyone is interested, Greg Goebels of www.vectorsite.net posted the September vectors a little early - this month's featured aircraft is the Dassault Etendard/Super Etendard. Lots of nice info in his articles...

There was another Mirage who flew in June 1966, the Mirage F2.

And after many, many hours (years?) of work... Here's the WHOLE fleet of the Mirage family. I mean all the planes who flew, from the Mirage III to the 4000 :)
(If you consider that the VTOL Mirage were Mirage III derivatives)

Hello! Thread resurrected! As Iranian F-14A with its profiles, I puut all the Mirages in this thread... lots of upgrade since september!
The Mirage G has been dismantled and changed into a spanish Mirage F2.
another Mirage-G 100 times much better has been made, a Mirage F1E, a MegaMirage...
What I like is twin-jets Mirage (projects, prototypes or production aircrafts).
Here we go for some pics :)
