Shasper

This one has been on my mind since I joined Wiffdom back in '03. The kit is the DML 1/200 B-52H, which actualy is a cross between the earlier D model and the later G/H birds, particularly in the nose area. My one gripe has to be the engine pods, they seem to be from a 144th scale BUFF kit.

I replaced the 20mm Vulcan w/a new tail-warning radar, added the IFR probe and loaded-out with a pair of Grand Slam IIs fitted w/t Blue Ferret kit, which adds a TV guidence system for the terminal phase and 2 rocket boosters to extend the range. (the kit can also be fitted to the WE177B as a replacement for the Hound Dog/Blue Steele in lieu of ALCMs)

Colors are Euro-1 gray, USMC green topside and Helo drab underneath. Decals were scrounged up (I had one roundle do a death roll, hence the un coordnated colors). I also added a pair of Sidewinders for self defence.

The Churchill B.2 (even the Brits called it the BUFF) only saw action in OP: Corporate, where they used the Grandslam II/Blue Ferret munitions to take out 3 key ports in Argentina. They were removed from service & sold back to the US in 1988 (where the USAF 'americanised' the A/C and returned them to service), being replaced by the Excaliber B.2 (derived from the B-1A).

Wow is that sweet, Shas! She looks great in that camo and RAF markings! I love the name Churchill for it too. You've got a real winner there!

Nice one Shas - I've the Italeri boxing of that kit, need to think of a scheme for it now though -- if it ever gets built  B)
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Big bombs - you just got to love big bombs!

Man, those things (the bombs) would make the "Daisy Cutter" seem like a firecracker...just what would those things scale out to?  A megaton?  There'd be breaking windows clear into the next time zone when one of those babies detonated!

Very cool.
The Corps is a department of the Navy? Yeah, the Men's department.

Eh, call them Rolls-Royce engines of some sort, give it the F-4K/M treatment (engines were bigger, hence the larger nacelles), and call it a day  B)

Nice build.  I like the weapons.  Perhaps we need to resurrect the "Make your own weapons" thread?

My thoughts about the weapons:

The Grandslam II started out at a whoppin' 9,000lbs. Add the basic Blue Ferret kit (no boosters), adds another thousand, and the 2 boosters add another 2,000lbs.

The GSII is suppost to be a conventional penetration weapon (like the GBU-28 Deepthroat.), not a Nuke, but the same Blue Ferret guidence & booster kit can be fitted to the WE177B bomb.

That's a great idea, Anthony! While working on my MD B-53 trimotor bomber project I turned some kind of ECM thingy on the 1/72 Hase weapons sprue that came with my Secret Santa kit into a ramjet missile. I think I should post some "in-progress" pics...
