Cheers H,
Yeah I have seen those before, and I do already have a sokol part finished. It was such a bad kit I put it down and stayed away from my modelling bench for a week. The landing gears are that brittle, they just shattered regardless of how you went about removing them from the sprue.

I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

1/48th Ta-152C is very nice, according to my local expert, but HB have made the same mistake as Dragon re. the cowling interior. As to what, not sure, but he says he can fix it easily.

The Wooksta!

Does he mean the radiator section?  The C was like the H in that the radiators lined the cowling sides, the front opening was mesh.  I'll have a check with the Monogram Close Up when I get home.

Between £10-£12 depending on where you buy.

Also, a rather nice German prototype tank, the name of which I've forgotten, in 1/35th that'll be ideal for Meerkats.

It was what Porsche proposed as his version of the Tiger II.  He went ahead and started production - of long lead items such as the turrets - before the decision was made and when he lost out to Henschell, he found he had all these turrets made.  So they decided to use them on the Henschell hulls, as the Henschell turret production was lagging.  Problem was, the Henschell hulls lacked the turret ring protecting lip, at the top of the glacis which the Porsche design had and so the Porsche turret was easily jammed if a shell hit under the turret mantlet.   The Porsche turret's glacis was also weaker 'cause it was rolled, whereas the Henschell one was simply a flat plate.  Rolled glacis and the cutout required on the turret side for the commander's cupula made the Porsche design more difficult to manufacture overall so the Henschell one was preferred.

With that VK4502 if you removed the step down in the hull over the tracks and fitted return rollers that Porche designed Vorche would make a very viable post war MBT don't you think  ;)

Now then, I've read that "standard" story, and I've also read somewhere that it's completely untrue: both turrets were made by Krupp and the rounded "Porsche" one was simply the early model, replaced by the flat-fronted "Henschel" model because it was easier to make.
