EE Canberra and Martin B-57

Ohhh Canberra group build. I like that. So far I have built an RN carrier based MPA version - Photos being resent to Tom for updates- I'm also doing a night fighter version, got the rest of my nats stuff to build first). I also had a conversation with Thor about a B6 based intruder. And, yep, I do have an airfix B6 sitting in my stash.
The EE B(I)8 can build into a decent little kit, so get some. I'm planning on getting a few more for ideas that are beginning to pop up.

I like that stacked fuselage idea but have the bottom section have a major cut out section where one of them there big missles (Blue Steel, etc) could be stored.

FB-57, Genies under the wings with Falcons semi-recessed on the bomb-bay doors.
USAF, RCAF, RoC, NATO, 50's-60's.

*Chuckle* I can see this variant with something else, of an air to ground nature, under the wings and IR-guided Falcons being used in Viet-nam much as the "Palace Guard" F-102's were at night.  Their primitive IRST could spot VC camp fires along the "Trail" and they'd drop a Falcon in and ruin their evening.

So that's what they used 'em for.  I knew from my reading that Falcons were pretty much useless for ACM, but I also read that a good number of them were expended in Vietnam, and I couldn't imagine what for.

*Snicker*  I understand that this did lead to a F-102X proposal for a ground attack variant of the F-102.  I've not seen anything further on it, though.  I got that info from a friend who had and has connections with the now well-known 111th FIS in Houston back to the period when they flew F-102's.

Speaking of F-102's (It's OT, but when has that mattered here?), the thought occurs to me that a stretched TF-102 with an extra two seats, ala' the EA-6B, might make an interesting EW aircraft.  Not a particularly aesthetically appealing one, but an interesting one.

Can you imagine the airflow problems around that canopy/canopies?  There would have to be like 200 little vortex generators up there!!!

But would be a sweet lookin thing!!

Has anyone though of doing a swept wing version?? If not, I think I'll do one.
Land based maritime strike?? Sea Eagles in the bomb bay? Harpoons/Exocets under the wings??  
Tanker, take out the bomb bay and put a big feck off petrol can in there add a couple of points under the wings and presto, an in theatre tactical tanker.

Gotten one off Ebay last week - not turned-up yet tho ! - It's the old Italeri one. I was thinking of just changing the paint-scheme and swapping some weapons around.

The obvious way to go IMHO would be an Israeli one in three-tone camo. As an alternative to the traditional desert camo, I was thinking a mid-eighties three-tone grey/blue scheme, similar to the one the A-6's wore before their retirement, but not as tatty....

Anybody think of else (Yes I had considered a Luftwaffe one - Splinter pattern with day-glo orange tanx.... Mmmmmm)

Over to you guys - all help/ideas gratefully received.

That was a variant of the B-57G, IIRC -- the one with the big nose.

Up for a little scratchbuilding? How about doing one of the long-wing versions? Or a full-tilt CAS/BAI version with a single cockpit, multiple wing hardpoints and a GAU-8? What about a more modern EB-57 with EA-6-style blisters and pods?

Royal navy, or better yet, Royal Canadian Navy, in that lovely two-grey camo...............with dayglo panels !

Lots of nations in Latin America owned the British Canberra.  Many flew them until the mid-1990s.....Suppose somewhere in the 1980s they felt that the British Airframes were getting long on the tooth, but the missions really hadn't (therefore something would be needed that would ensure quick training for both the pilots and the ground crew).  That means an airframe that is close to the original Canberra, but just slightly different and/or newer.....Check out those Latin American camos!  Decals can be had from Aztec, FCM, Carpena....

How about Philippine AF B-57B's?  Or US Coast Guard B-57B's?  Or for a really big whif...  Papal States or Austro-Hungarian or Ottoman B-57B's?

RAF......after the British production line was shut down due to industrial action, sabotage and a disastrous fire, the RAF bought 50 B-57Bs as the (inevitable) B-57K.

The RCAF one in black would be nice.

Japanese anti-shipping....a bit like Jenning's marvellous USN one, but with meatballs??

Soviet Russia.....the Tupolev Tu-15.....copy of the British design, but Sovietised (hell of a word that!).    You could do a Chinese-production one too.

Belgian in that SEAsia colour scheme, but wraparound as on their later Mirage Vs, or perhaps in natural metal with enormous roundels.

Italeri also did the B-57G.....I've got one.

Newcastle United Supporters Club.....Dark Earth(very "earthy") and twin greens over "Sky"....be controversial and mix your own shade of sky with a purplish-grey-green tinge to upset the JMNs....delivering huge underwing bottles of Newcastle Brown, dropped from a great height over Old Trafford on match days?
It'd obviously have black-white striping as trim , and a huge glinting "Wye-eye" in the nose.  


Portuguese in Africa, all over dark green.

Why not RDAF in their dark faded green/olive/khaki mess? 

Dutch in Nato camo?

Belgian in SEAsia wraparound??

Why not a PINK PR RAF type?

Soviet copy in either USSR markings or what about East German? Tu-19??

Swedish in that 5-colour Viggen splinter?

RDAF in heavily weathered Olive drab??

Israeli sounds good, but why not the Dark Tan/Dark Blue scheme, Dark Grey unders, with Suez stripes?

I had an idea for a new RAF recon bird using the B-57, add 1/48 U-2 wings outboard of the engines,
fit a U-2 pod front end to the B-57 nose and add the front fan sections from the Viking engines.
Must build it one day................
