Another shot of the G-14, compare this pic to the picture of the full sized airplane...I think it looks close to it.

The dark spots on the rudder are red oxide primer from a repair to the fabric.

Woah Matrixone fantastic work! That 109 looks like the genuine article. I really like your 162 Salamander too. Is it true that an R.A.F. test pilot died while taking a 162 up at the end of the war? I hear those things were the devil to fly.

Thanks Jeff, Eddie, and Brian!

I am nearly done with the weathering on the 109, I don't want to go to far.

Brian,
All flight test reports I have read about the He 162 state that it was a decent airplane with most of the bad handling quirks done away with during the testing of the prototypes. Eric Brown (British test pilot) even liked it and said it was a good gun platform and did not snake at high speeds like the Me 262 and Meteor.
The trouble with the He 162 was its low speed handling and would have been a lot of trouble for the low time pilots of the Luftwaffe.
The rudders of the He 162 were very sensitive and Eric Brown warned the other test pilots of this problem but during a test flight in an attempt to increase its already high roll rate an RAF test pilot used a bit too much of the rudder and it broke apart in the air killing the pilot and another person when the aircraft hit a building.
To an experienced pilot the He 162 was a fine airplane, to a low time pilot it would have been a death trap if the bang seat failed.

Weekend update on the models...started doing final assembly today, the smaller parts are being put on now and I am almost done with the weathering.

Bloody hell - I've having trouble telling which pic is the real one and which is the model.      Great work Matrixone.

All hail the God of Frustration!!!

Thanks very much Greg!

Today was very dark with thick overcast...not good for taking pictures but I had to do it today or wait until next weekend because a lot of wet weather is expected in my area the next few days.
I had wanted to take my pictures in sunlight just like the pictures of the full size a/c were taken in, oh well, I will just have to wait until the model is finished to compare how my model looks against the full size machine. :D

I might have the Bf 109 finished by Sunday night, pics of it might be posted next weekend.

Thank you Jeff!

I figure another week, maybe two, and I will be back whiffing full time except for a spat plane (Ju 87G) I want to build in January.

Here are the final in-progress pics of my two newest models...

I had expected to be finished with these models by now but where I live there was a major storm that blew through my area and it knocked out my power for quite a while and just got it back only a short time ago so some of my modelling time for the week was lost. <_<
