Anti Ship TIGRE

This was my second whatif project. I called it TIGRE, but I did not assign it to any particular country.

After Falklands war, 24 years ago, I read an article in Scientific American written by an US Navy expert that stated basically: In spite of some comments about that war, in the future only Aircraft carriers and Submarines will count, other surface ships are too vulnerable to aircraft bombs and missiles. The author also said that the Exocet aimed to Invencible could only be decoyed with manufacturer's help and once decoyed it impacted in other ship.

Then I began to think in a big missile able to destroy a big nuclear carrier with only one impact. This was the result.

It is in 1/72 scale and was done with junk materials: Heller Mirage III for fuselage and wings, Airfix F-5 for cockpit and nose, Revell Corsair II for canopy, Monogram F-14 for tail , ...

Hmm, isnt it the US navy who has the largest and most modern force of Destroyers and Cruisers? Ticonderogas and Arleigh Burke class ships anyone?

Very nice job on the jet!

   You are correct, B7, that the navie's strategy has changed alot...with the unbelievable antimissile tech available now, the greatest threat is low tech items, like what took in the Cole.  So, lots and lots of shore support ships.

However, in lock-on, my Su-33 launched from the kuznetzov using a single Sunburn, can hit the nimitz without much opposition.

Ya, but we all know how much you can trust 'experts'. Just ask all those unemployed pilots, as we all know there is no future in manned a/c !
