this is thread for...

MIRAGE MAAAAN !!!!!

...a naval F1 to operate from the essex class carriers after they were sold worlwide in the early 70's.
(plus the Foch for Brazil and the Clemenceau for Argentina, and some WWII carriers)

... Lebanon is an exellent idea, the backstory is not too difficult to imagine
In 2007 with the Rafale entering service, France sold 10 F1CT to Lebanon. They replaced the Mirage IIIEL sold to Pakistan in 1999... They were based in Rayack (which was build as an AdA airbase back in the 30's, when France had LEbanon on custody). They were used to patroll lebanon airspace.
Second-hand alphajets were also send there (from the chateaudun boneyard)

QuoteHow about a target drone based out of Tyndall AFB, Florida?
Oooh.. good use for a French fighter! :)  Or perhaps it would be called a "Freedom Fighter"?  Although I did hear that the Congressional cafeteria in the Capitol has started serving French fries and French toast again...

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Ive got a hasegawa kit on my bed. I was just about to begin it as a non-whiff when i saw this post, and now i dont know what to do with it :(

Archibald

So what to do of your Mirage F1 ? Why not trying US Navy (regular sheme, not agressor). and add a pair of Phoenix underwings if you have (is the Hasegawa model a two-seater ?)
Canada would be cool (with every exhaust from the spare box, J-79 or spey would be cool)
Canards on the air intakes (not in the nose, it would disturb the airflow in the intakes)
Why not a FSW Mirage  ? (you just have to glue the wing in the wrong sense :P )

Wow, I wasn't expecting this thread to grow this big this fast. I'm still really leaning towards Israel or Switzerland, although Taiwan and Australia are really cool too. I also have a set of Iraqi decals. NASA FSW demonstartor would look sweet. And if I could get our resident aeronautical engineer in on this, what would it take to fit a J79 to this beastie? Thanks for all your suggestions so far, and please keep em coming.

That Swiss bird looks down right pretty. Could I coax you inot doing Israeli and Taiwanese profiles as well? I've narrowed it down among those three. Thanks
