Glad to see you back here, Tophe! We missed your twin-tails, asymetric aircrafts!!

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Radish metioned it earlier...  Howzabout, a DIY COIN version.  Either copy shamelessly off of the Cavalier COIN Mustang or devise your own.  You could add wingtip tanks off of a T-33 or A-37, provide 8 or 10 underwing pylons (for unguided rockets, Hellfire missiles, Sidewinders, LDGP bombs & guns pods), perhaps spats for simplicity & reduction of maintenance, perhaps an engine change and add new lumps, bumps & antennae.  I'm sure your updated COIN Mustang would sell well world-wide; the Philippines, Bolivia, South Vietnam, Sri Lanka, Madagascar, Rhodesia/Zimbabwe, Ireland, Israel, Morocco, Portugal, Mexico...

overall polished natural metal fuselage/silver paint wing finish in Ilmavoimat post war roundel markings (Finnish Air Force) would look sweet as a MAP. fund gifted type to replace those 'nasty German' ones supplied during the war years!

hmmm i can just visualise it with MT serial codes!

QuoteWell, I've been messing around with this, and I still don't have an exact plan, but I've got several cool mods in mind. First off, as I said earlier, the ejection seat from the Monogram Panther fits perfectly. Also, since I'm removing the 30mikes from my Revell 262, why not the 4 of those? Some of you may have noticed my current kick of re-engining WW2 aircraft with modern turboprops, and I noticed the cowling of the PT6 from the PC-9/Texan 2 isn't much different from the Mustang cowl. So it's gonna have a turboprop, but hopefully more painlessly than JHM's turbo-stang, along with a fully feathering prop from the modified kit part. I've got some options of the armament, and I'll need some input. I can either: 1. Use the kit pylons to mount 2 of the small bombs from the Panther, 2. Modify the kit pylons to fit 4 of the Panther's small bombs, or 3. Use the kit pylons and the 262's huge bombs. I've also got options for rockets, 1. Use the HVARs(6) and pylons from the Panther, or 2. I could scratchbuild the LAU-10 4-shot 5inch tubes. What do you guys think? For schemes I'm thinknig either S. Africa or Aussie, but I'm still open to suggestions. Thanks for all your input so far.

If you are going to be mounting pylons under the wings, you could always take a long look at the later models of the Corsair (F4U-7 and AU-1) for inspiration.  These both had a standard pylon that was able to carry a bomb or rocket.  The number of pylons that were mounted on these two versions of the Corsair were not too cluttered and you can use the pylons from the AD-1/A-1 Skyraider for the Mustang as they are about the right size and shape.

I like the idea of keeping the four cannons in place of the six .50 Browning machine guns as they would have far more destructive power than the machine gun battery and for ground attack aircraft that is attacking trucks, bunkers, trains, this would be a more practical weapon.  The 30mm cannons from the Me-262 were very low velocity weapons in comparison to the standard 20mm cannon that were carried by the Mustang, Spitfire, Hurricane, Typhoon.  The German weapon was designed to tear up and destroy aircraft but it could be useful for ground attacks against unarmored targets.

The Panther ejection seat in the Mustang is brilliant.  I was looking at using the extraction seats from the Skyraider for the Mustang but a regular ejection seat might be the best solution.
