There are many surprises out there around captured aircraft marked and flown by the capturing forces. Great for screwing with the minds of JMNs!

Of course, Photoshop is even better...  :ar:

In want of hobby space!  The kitchen table is never stable.  Still managing to get some building done.

QuoteSteve,

That's an amazing photo there!  Thanks for sharing it.  I can just see someone doing up a Hellcat that way, entering it in a contest, and then standing back to watch the JMN's get the shakes and foam at the mouth!

Coolness!

At the UK nats a few years ago the Japanese SIG display had captured allied aircraft in Japanese markings on one side, and captured Japanse aircraft in allied markings on the other.

It was an excellent display, one of the best I've seen.  Lots of really really interesting models :)

John Prados' Combined Fleet Decoded mentions the JNAF flying a captured F6F at their Air Technical Intelligence Center. It was at NAS Atsugi and run by the Yokosuka Naval Air Group, where they flew several other captured Allied aircraft.
You can tell on the picture that this is that example with the reversed E on the tail. The backwards E was the tail code for the Yokosuka Air Group. The Yokosuka not only had the test and eval squadrons, but had several operational fighter and attack squadrons assigned (they were one of two groups that flew the B7A Grace in combat, along with the J1N1-S Irving night fighters against B-29s-one crew became aces-in-a-night in May '45 with five kills and a probable). Saburo Sakai flew with this unit in 1944 as a test pilot before going to the 343rd NAG in 1945.

QuoteI'll wholeheartedly endorse any measure that makes JMNs miserable. Where do I sign?
Just below my name !

Great idea, Peter, now get some paint on it !!

hi all  ;)
I decided to make a new one...
the old monogram kit is not the best choice... <_<
I decided to rebuild an old arii hellcat to the japanese conversion...
the kit was build since 6 or 7 years...and not painted...why?...I dont know...
I found it agai last days and the work begun...
some details are shown...
the new idea was to make it as a fighter bomber with a small bomb bay in the fuselage...after I decided to install the german BMW engine without the turboloadder the space in the fuselage could be used for a bomb bay  :D
wing tips will be rounded up with another round wing tips. and could be folded like on the A6M2.
best regards
Peter

How can you work so well?
how do you cut those styrene pieces?
do you want us to leave modelling?
why do you enjoy showing us these marvels?
are you dentist?

Sincerely yours,

It means the real rivet counters and analy retentive amoungst our fellow modlers. the sort of idiot that would complain that a certain airframe wore a certain shade of grey, even if the airframe in question is in front of him and in a differnt shade to what his prefered refs claim. Seen that happen at a few airshows.
I always hope for the best.

Now I know what you meen.

Many, many moons ago I made a Starwars Scout Walker, I added stand off armour and painted it in grays and greens and took it to the Avon IPMS show.  I took it out of its box and was about to put it down when some JMN came up, put his face to it then looked me in the eyes and said , in a voice that radiated discust, "you do know its the wrong colour"

I told him to F**K off, it came first in the Sc Fi class, his was unplaced :D
