Heh...  I'm thinking of doing the A-15N in the gear up position!     Besides, I really like the gear down on this one.

That's a very interesting model you do... something cool in a collection, really!

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

May I suggest mounting the missiles on modified Tomcat wing pylons? Use the ones that hang AIM-7 and 9s. Shave them down, mount them centerline and then you could hang your missile from the center and they would be canted away from each other. Just a thought. ^_^

Looking very good Anthony!

There's an idea!  I'll take a look at it later on.

I'm still leaning towards hanging a 600 gallon drop tank in there.  The thing's already going to have 12 AAM's (4 AIM-97, 4 AIM-120, 4 AIM-9), two more 1300 lbs AIM-97's would push it over to obscenely armed.

Below is the weapons chart I've worked up for this variant.  It should be noted that stations 1, 2, 8, and 9 are used only when the wing pylons are attached.  Also, three drop tanks can be carried only when the wing pylons are fit, and dual AIM-9 or AIM-120 launchers are fit on the heavier wing pylon (in a carriage configuration similar to the actual F-15).  If I am satisfied with a belly mount for the AIM-97's, the chart might get ammended to show two can be mounted there.

Way to go, man---looking GREAT!

I've had plans to do a swing-wing on a 1:48 two-seat SuperBug but you're the guy actually making the magic happen.   ;)

As for rotating weapons pylons, I simply resort to friction-fit (tight) on my Italeri Tornado.

Styrene in my blood and an impressive void in my cranium.

Swing wing Super Hornet?  GET ON WITH IT!   :P

I'd do the "friction fit" method, but I have to drill holes in the wings, and I always drill them too large (hence my non-moving pylons and wings on the Tornados I've built).

I realized while I was out walking the cow-dog that I put the incorrect chart up this morning.  I did it last night after about two double shots of Wiser's.  I had too many AIM-97's listed as being on the thing.  Corrected it now.

No real prgoress today, insted I did some cleaning out of some boxes that have been in storage for the better part of the year due to my move.  I actually managed to find my old XR-7 Thunderdart and the only remaining survivor from my Generation 1 Whifs from about 12-15 years ago  (built a USN AT-45 and handpainted a Gripen in the markings of the 171st FIS out of Selfridge...  found the Gripen).

It should also be noted, that in lieu of my doing any work on the swing wing F-15N, I, uh, built an RAF F-15K (complete with Spey engine nozzles from a Fujimi F-4K) and the RCN F-15M with wingtip rails...

No F-15N progress, but here's a pic of the F-15K and F-15M, respectively.  You can't really see the engine mods on the F-15K, but I had to go back to my old digital camera while my new one was being borrowed.

Below is the F-15M for the RCN.  It's based on the ancient Monogram F-15 kit with the squared off wingtips.  I added wingtip sidewinder rails to it, and replaced the landing gear with the ESCI F-18-ish gear.  I added a tail hook, but I didn't want to use the same hook housing as on the F-15N.  I'm still not sure what I'm going to do for the housing, but it'll come to me.

These were quickies today.  I haven't been able to get to a hobby store to find small magnets for the swining pylons on the F-15N yet, but I'll see if I can this week.

Are you ashamed of those mods (to describe them in small letters like that ???)

Well, yeah, in that I've already got all these other builds going on, this swing-wing F-15N getting built up, and instead of working on it, I go and build two more F-15's when I could be working on the wing pylons of the swing-wing plane

I understand, but there's no problem because we all know that you are a... productive comrade (three F-15 at the same time!!!!, of which two are kitbashed... :o)

Actually, um....  I've got about nine going on right now (1 RAF F-15K, 1 RCAF F-15B, 1 RCN F-15M, 1 RAAF F-15C, 1 USN F-15N, 1 171st Aggressor F-15D, 1 FRoCA F-15B, 1 Spanish F-15A, and 1 Italian F-15B).  I've got plans for another five or so...

Given your astounding productivity, my bet is you'll have them all finished by lunch, suppertime at the latest!

I wish I was as quick and talented as you, Anthony!

Merciful Zeus!  I should NOT be looking at things like that at work, I'll need a few minutes of, ah, 'private time' now...
