QuoteActually, um....  I've got about nine going on right now (1 RAF F-15K, 1 RCAF F-15B, 1 RCN F-15M, 1 RAAF F-15C, 1 USN F-15N, 1 171st Aggressor F-15D, 1 FRoCA F-15B, 1 Spanish F-15A, and 1 Italian F-15B).  I've got plans for another five or so...

And ... how many carriers?

BTW I am waiting for the Spanish F-15

Speaking of Naval F-15N Sea Eagles, take a look at this:

Yes, I know it's a photoshop job (and don't start about the tail codes), but still...

Would it not have been possible to flip the carrier? At least that would delude the layman...

Heigh ho, accuracy isn't always the most important.

QuoteFRoCA?
Federal Republic of Central America.

I did up a Convair 880 as a transport for them back in the summer.  Wrote up a little history, but haven't totally fleshed it out.  Actually got the idea from a cigar radio commercial, and how this particular cigar commemorates the actual FRoCA from the early to mid 19th century (or something).  It was sometimes referred to as the United States of Central America.  Wikipedia's got something on them, including a national flag.

Nice pic, GTX.  And a simple mirroring does do wonders for the eyes...

BTW, no progress, other than figuring out that there ain't no way two AIM-97's are going to look like they belong under the fuselage.  Armament is fixed at 4 AIM-97, 4 AIM-120, and 4 AIM-9.

Captain Canada

The Hornet and Tomcat in the background are way out of scale.....

:P

Has anybody actually built a proper navalized eagle ? Sure would be sweet.....

Not sure what you mean by "proper navalised," but there's this one from Hyperscale.  It's not based on any serious designs (it's got canards and wingtip rails).  It's a nice build, but the canards don't sit right with me.

As far as I know, there were never any serious plans for an F-15N, other than some bit proposals.  Searches on the web turn up speculation and arguments between F-14/F-15 fanboys as to which is better and how their missions differ as they see it.

If anyone finds anything concrete about the F-15N, I'd like to see it so I can eventually take a shot at it.

As for now, I got's me some magnets and magnetic tape today!  Experiments in swinging pylons commence later!

Ok, now I know what you were talking about, Toad.  Found these on my hard drive.  I'd completely forgotten about the F-15N and the NASA fighter requirements proposals.

F-15N, with AIM-54's and an extendable nose gear oleo:

NASA Fighter requirements F-15 derivatives (including swing wing):

F-15XX proposal with wingtip sidewinders from Flight International:

And here's two pics showing what I was leaning towards with the ventral fins from the early F-15 concepts:

Now that I see (actually, am reminded of) the original F-15N proposal, the old Monogram and Revell kits with the squared off wingtips are actually quite close to it.  The wingtips need slight reshaping, but it's easier with those kits than it would be with a more modern F-15 kit.

Still trying to figure out the best way to work with magnets on the swing wing...

Very, very interesting pics and documents, anthony!

Ideas are coming... merge these early F-15 designs (smaller tails, ventral fins, pointed and longer nose) with a F-14-like aircraft (I mean, two seats and Phoenix), add Speys exhausts from a F-4K and you have an alternative to the
YF-12, F-111B or F-106E circa 1968...  ^_^

King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

PROGRESS!!!!!

Been working on it off and on since my last post here, and it's nearly completed!  Just waiting for some missiles from Jschmus, and (once I mod the missiles) I'll be able to show this plane completed!

I ran into some issues with the right wing root about two weeks ago, as the wing dried in place after I painted it.  When I went to move the wing, I ripped the entire wing root off the plane, and some major reconstruction was needed.  It didn't turn out too bad, but now that I know sorta what I'm doing, I'll know how to do the swing wings for my next build.

My good, ol' first digital camera (seven years old now) appears to be finally dying, as the model is painted in flat gull grey overall, and these pics make it look like it's Light Ghost Grey...

Finished up the Spanish, RCN, Italian, RAF, RAF SEAC, Brazillian, and Taiwanese F-15's as well.

looking great - a real double take inducing model!

Someday, I'll even finish a model ...

Incredible......I had to do a double take myself, thought it was an F14 first off. Brillant job yet again Anthony. Oh, she looks good in VF84 colours as well.

Same here, skipped through a little quick & thought you'd posted am F-14.  Then I had flick the wheel back on the mouse double-quick as I realised something wasn't quite right with that Tomcat!

Damn good swinger!
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Anybody know what the other contenders/competitors to the YF-15 was? When the F-15 was still a contender to the USAF that is?
