Anthony, that's a rather lousy F-14 you've got there.

What?

It's a swingin' F-15?

Woo!

QuoteAnybody know what the other contenders/competitors to the YF-15 was? When the F-15 was still a contender to the USAF that is?

The YF-15 was borne from the FX (Fighter Experiment) program & was the only one built.  Most US manufacturers submitted designs, & McDD, Fairchild Republic & North American/Rockwell got through to the final stages.  Theres a few thumbnail pics I borrowed from the Key Publishing Forum:

I'm not sure what's what, but I think the Su-27 lookalikey is the NA/Rockwell submission & the one above it the Fairchild version.

EDIT, missed the quote.
I don't think it's nice, you laughin'. You see, my mule don't like people laughin'. He gets the crazy idea you're laughin' at him. Now if you apologize, like I know you're going to, I might convince him that you really didn't mean it.

Anthony, I new what your intentions were and yet I still had to do a double take, great job!

I want to see some kits of the FX competitors, thankyou very much!        Anyone else think the lower right proposal looks a tad like our beloved F-35? B)

That's impressive! you managed to build the perfect hybrid of Tomcat / Eagle!

F-13A Eaglecat  ?
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

More like F-15N Seagle

Thanks for the compliments, guys!  When the armament goes on, you'll definitely not have to do a double take to recognize it as a different plane.

There was an Air Enthusiast from about a year ago that had an article on the F-14 and F-15 competitions.

Sierra Hotel Anthony!!

Seriously well done, sorta looks like a Turkey that's been to Jenny Craig's over the Xmas break

One question, the AIM-97's... are they those Seekbat jobbies???  They look like they were Standards in a previous life?  If so, I can see a lot of AGM-78s getting the chop for some nasty interceptors.

Excellent Job,

The AIM-97's are indeed going to be descendants of the original Seekbats.  I'm calling mine AIM-97C's, and making them roughly equivalent to AIM-54's, just cooler looking.  Funny thing about the AIM-97 and AGM-78 is they're the exact same airframe in terms of length and diameter, so no real modifications are necessary (save paintjob).

Hey, look!  It's beginning to get armed!  In the second pic, you can see my first attempt at using thin magnets to do rotating pylons.  Next time, I'll either flush mount then, or do them inside the wings.

Wow she looks better with every shot Commadore Anthony! I really like the idea of using magnets to mount "rotating" weps loads. I've heard some good things about this technique. It looks like you're planning on taking it to a whole new level.
