I am hoping this will turn out to look like a decent representation of what Fairey might have done with a Mirage III airframe. There's a long way to go yet but I think it's moving in the right direction!

I've indicated the changes I've made so far. The bottom pic shows that the splitters actually sit away from the fuselage by about 1mm.

Kit used was the Airfix Mirage III.

I really do hope the build turns out well as I intend to dedicate it to my Mother who died two weeks ago aged 80.
This project has helped me get through really some hard days.

At the rate it's coming along so far, I'm sure you'll do her proud.

My condolences on your mother's passing, and congratulations for remembering her with something you enjoy. Fun work is good therapy, keep it up, it looks like it's coming along beautifully.  ;)

That's coming along great! You've mad some very cool mods to it, seavixen.

You've got my deepest sympathies on your loss. I know how hard that is.

Sea Vixen, you and your family have my deepest sympathies and prayers.

Personally, I know how building a model can be a creative outlet and stress reliever all at once.  I'm looking forward to seeing how this one turns out.  I like the Phantom style splinter plates!

I'm late here, but I'll add my condolences and deepest, too.

Having said that, this looks to be a most excellent tribute to her memory and I commend you on the workmanship shown as well as the concept.

Me too.
My mother is still alive but not my father.
Looking forward the model.

Thanks for the kind thoughts guys!  :)

Anyways, not too much going on with the build, I'm back at work now so don't have much spare time at the moment. I have however filled the many gaps, boxed in the wheelwells and added some new bits and pieces to move it away from the normal Mirage. I'm aiming to do more work on it at the weekend but here's a couple of new progress shots for you in the meantime!

A beautiful model to come
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Thanks, it's getting there slowly!!  ;)

Didn't Radish or someone write up a fictional alternate history of a British Mirage a couple of years ago?  It was called the Fairey "something"; I can't remember.
