I'm hoping this thread comes alive with ideas etc over the coming year after Airfix's little announcement last week.

Me? I'm thinking RAAF w/Blue Steel in camo....

I did start a Matchbox one as an RAAF tanker.  The RAAF were more interested in Vulcan.

I'll have to remember that when/if Airfix brings out a K.2, and to find a Matchbox/Revell one if they don't.

The stories vary.  In one book on the Victor, the claim is made the RAAF was interested, in other sources, the claim is made that they were interested in the Vulcan.  I suspect they were just interested in a follow on to the Lincoln in general.  The F-111 purchase in 1965 put paid to that.

I was thinking of a water bomber to tackle forest or bush fires. Maybe two or three scoops added to the front fuselage for refilling at low level.

KiwiZac

I really like the idea of a civilian water bomber Victor (maybe ex-RAAF?), but the thought of one skimming along a lake scares the s--- out of me!

The Matchbox kit is being turned into an AEW variant. The resin Cammet radome is a good fit at the fuselage, nose weight will be interesting as I'm keeping the front end the same as in the kit. Glued the fairing where the fuselage refueling drogue would have gone flush. Reshaped the vertical T-tail to fit the new extended fuselage. Airbrakes will have to be moved forwards.

Mc Colm, if i remember correctly you have the resin Nimrod AEW Radomes parts. Could the nose radome of te AEW Nimrod fit the nose of the Victor? and the rear radome could it fit the rear of the Victor?

Just a though....and i don't have the aew parts...

Thanks, David

I tried them on the vacform Victor first. The rear is fine but I couldn't get the front section to fit, which is why I will fit it to the Airfix Nimrod kit and turn it into a bomber, using the Sea Eagle missiles off the Airfix Sea Harrier 2. I've used the vertical tail fin on the AEW Nimrod & two point tanker with Hawkeye Rotodome and base. Also used the two large tail fins on the ends of the tail section as stabilizers.

They don't work on the Vulcan either but as I have a wreck of a Vulcan, I was thinking of using the wings and engines on the vacform VC 10.

Ok, thanks. I suppose the front radome is way too large for the Victor..But it could fit the Vulcan....mmmmmm, you got me thinking!

Thanks,
David
