Hello everybody!!

I just open a new thread in order to know who's planning to build what...

I know it could be really useless, but there are a lot of productive (or not) modelers that have really good ideas, but sometimes, due to the large number of topics here, I just miss some very interresting models and find them months after their first publication here (I think about Zac's, Archie's, Anthony's or JHM's models for example)...
For example, I discovered the wonderfull models of the 1 week GB only in late September!

And moreover, it could be fun to just share our ideas and why not discover that other modelers are some common ideas and projects... It just happened to me few days ago, when I discovered that AeroplaneDriver already did a modernised A-37 in the same way of what I plan to do...

So, here I go:

On my workbench
-OA-37F Dragonlady: a modernised Dragonfly for SpecOps in the 2010's... (a "in progress" topic is open in the "show us your pics" forum)
-Mirage 2000-15 SEAD: a modernised Mirage 2000 with new goodies in order to make her a reall good Wild Weasel !!
-EF-117N: a Nighthawk for the US Navy (or USMC, not sure for the moment) with a new wing, canards, new tails and maybe external stealth weapons... It will be a dedicate variant of the Nighthawk developped in order to replace and complete the F-14 and the EA-6B in the recce and SEAD missions... It was chosen instead of the F-35C...

-Cardassian Galor Class Cruiser: not a whiff, just a sci-fi model started years ago but I really want to finish it soon...

In my head ;)
The "whiff" that I plan to start soon:

-Saab-37 Viggen in SEAD configuration (don't know the name it will have because I don't know how to say "electronic recce" in Swedish!

-F-24C Tornado: a Tornado ADV airframe with the Tornado ECR abilities, in order to replace the EF-111 and the F-4 Wild Weasel in USAf
I just need 6 HARM missiles to start it!! (but don't know where I'll find them!! )

-Brazilian Super Etendard II: a modernised second-hand Super Etendard with a new engine, greater payload and range, PESA radar and able to operate from the Sao Paulo carrier in order to complete the A-4 Skyhawk...

I also thought about a A-45 Goshawk and a Harrier II in Argentinian or Brazilian Navy colors, but sadly, I have no decals for those aircrafts!! Such a pity, because i just LOVE the Brazilian Navy scheme!!

So, what are you guy planning to build??
I just can't imagine how long will be Anthony's or Archibald's list!

Well, currently on the bench are:

1/72 Airfix Irish Air Corps Hunter in NMF
1/72 Academy USCG OV-10D
1/72 Academy Bf109 with open cockpit and spats(thanks Brian!)
1/72 Hasegawa P-47D USMC circa 1991
1/72 Esci Mirage F1 Israeli with a J-79
1/48 Revell P-51D modernised with a bang seat and turboprop, etc.
1/35 Hobbycraft Ethiopian BMP-1
And I'll have something else when the SSGB gets into full swing.

Well, I've a slew of whiffy F-15 variants in both 1/72 and 1/48 piled up and waiting, as well as several Harrier whifs (thinking a SHAR FA.2 in Brazilian markings would be doable now and make some nice coin for the UK Treasury to spend on upgrading their Typhoons or combining Blue Vixen with the basic AV-8B+ airframe to produce a Harrier FG.11) including a "Matador" in Argentinian markings and stationed in Las Malvinas with Martin Pescador air-to-surface missiles.

I've also got some whiffy Skyhawk ideas as well as doing both Brazilian and Argentinian current models (anyone know where I can find good data in the Firehawks radar instl and any contour changes?).

Beyond that, the big challenge is getting it all together to do a Republic AP-75 (as was shown in Paul's "Sevret Projects' forum) in a production version.

I've currently got plans to turn a Spitfire Mk. XXII into a biplane. I'm also trying to figure out how to build one of these:

Well number one I'd really like to finish unpacking, put up pictures and shelves.

2. Time for the Girls' Christmas planes, not pink this year, Siobahn's getting an assembly Liberator, yellow with red polka dots, I also need to finish her pink Rav 4 from last year. Anstiss was really pleased that she knew the fact that her favourite author Roald Dahl flew Hurricanes, so she's getting a Hasegawa 1/48 version of his plane.

3. Finish the Sanders-Roe Sr1 vac form and possibly a Seafire 47 for my December IPMS meeting for the Schnieder cup '48 competition.

4. Finally putting a plan I've had for eons into affect, which is to build every major mark of Spitfire. Been collecting them like they're going out of style (which the lovely Airfix ones are) and ready for paint on an Airfix IX, all real world I'm afraid.

5. Get back to the Rotodyne

6. Do justice to the 1/48 Airfix Lightning in time for next years Nats.

7. Finish the started/almost finished
Gannet
SkyRaider
Barracuda
Hellcat
Dragonfly
Horton 229
Tigercat
that have been on the bench way too long.

I invite all and any criticism, except about Eric The Dog, it's not his fault he's stupid

Leigh's Models

Eddie M.

Along with all of my whifs, these will soon be in the works;
B-1B 1/48
F-14A (VF-2 Bounty Hunters) 1/48

An idea has been slowly forming for my next big project that involves a P-51 and B-25.

On the bench that really needs to be my top priority;
Hogzilla
USN TSR.2

I also found the parts for my F-16/117 hybrid that might have the chance of seeing the light of day again soon.

On the Bench:

Both Whiff's--->

Testor's R3C-2 being converted into a smuggler's aircraft with the lower wing removed, upper wing extended, under nose radiator added a la Porco Rosso's Curtiss and some sort of nose contour revision as Hawk moulded the nose in a most distorted fashion.    Likely there will also be an underfuselage tailplane strake as well.

Monogram's 1/48 A-18 being converted into a land-only USAF F-18 variant with no folding wings, enlarged spine, and reduced LERX.

The R3C-2 will be followed on by another contraband aircraft: the Testor's Ryan STM on floats with the fore cockpit removed and equipped to handle recreational botanicals.    The good guys will get converted Travel Air Mystery Ships likely in US Coast Guard markings and something along the line of a drop tank and flexible Lewis gun for enforcement.   Whether or not they get floats or not is still up in the air.   B da B can't be too left out ya' know and the Mystery Ship carries a great set of DD-size spats.

The pirate stuff is still in design.  :ar:   It's based off the premis that certain WW-1 aircraft were readily available in surplus and relatively good shape.............

Upon the mess that is my workbench I have:

1/72 RoG (ex Frog IIRC) Lightning F.6 171st FIS Michigna ANG
1/72 F-107, scheme TBD but probably Luftwaffe
1/72 Hasegawa EA-6B Canadian Coast Guard maritime patroller
1/72 Saab Lansen (Irish AF, or maybe Switzerland)
1/35 S-103B (with S-103C and Marder 1A3 parts and other goodies) -- Cheetah C1 tank-destroyer, Canadian Army
1/200 (or thearbouts) Revell Boeing B2707 One will be a SAC bomber, the other probably Air Canada
1/48 CF-100 Mk. 5. Unsure about where to go with this one. Might do it as a Mk. 5M Sparrow-armed variant, might make it a 5D ECM bird with 414 Squadron, may go bone stock 425 Squadron circa 1961.
Revell Convair Tradewind -- my entry for the Water Bomber build!

Poor planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part...

Gary F.:   Would the nose section from a F-5F fit on the X-29?

Just a thought,

Daryl J,

From what I've seen around here, it would work just fine .... just have to find one to use!  Also looks like the front of the RoG/ESCI F-5B would work fine too, but I think the F-5F front end looks better  ;)

regards,
Gary F

ps   are you offering an F-5F up for trade??  :D

Archibald

Currently working on an AdA Vulcan.

Top priority after that would be the MegaMirage (but I need a Mirage IV, I know where to find one but it's 150 km away  <_< ).

There's also this Carreidas 160 Bizjet (from Tintin) which turn into my head for some weeks now. I compared a MiG-23 and Falcon 20 (Mach 2 Guardian) they seem a good basis (but this is a long haul, I have to ask Mach2 directly for the Falcon, I can't find it in the shops :( ). I have to check "Vol 714 pour sydney" to see the number of wheels on the main undercarriage. It there's 8  wheels, Mirage IV undercarriage would be perfect , in the other case I have to ask Heller for Viggen undercarriage)

On the stash are still this 1/144 Shuttle (to be improved with a manned flyback booster) and MiG 1.42 (not whatif)

voila!!
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

On the Bench is my RN Bearcat (Korean War).
Also have a Skyvan kit waiting to be turned into an Omani Gunvan (if I can get some markings).
Need to pick up a B-26 Marauder for my Alternate Nimrod version.
Also need several S-3 Vikings for a Firebomber, Dutch, Norwegian and Swedish (and possibly some RN versions based on SC's profiles.
