1/24 Car-boat with a Merlin engine. 1/24 Range Rover 4x4, 1/72 Lifeboat hull, 1/24 steering wheel, seats, glazing. Loads of chrome, exhaust pipes. Decking real wood veneer, headlights and tail lights, prop/screws, rudder.
Based on a real-world design.

Do you have a 1/24 Merlin for that? If so, where did you get it?

Airfix 24th Spitfire, Hurricane, Mosquito or Mustang most likely.

I'm still waiting for the prices of 1/24 aircraft to come down a bit. A Jumbo or Daimler-Benz would be an alternative.
Failing that a pair of jet engines, looking similar to a 'Sand Cruiser' from Star Wars probably 1/48 scale (A-10A or Viking).

Just keep an eye on ebay.  Might be able to get a cheap Airfix 24th Spit.

I'm thinking about building the Hornet/Vampire hybrid.  Test fitted a few bits and it looks like a goer, although I'd have to come up with an alternative for the booms.  Possibly a cheap P.38 because I'm not cutting up the Frog DH110 I have stashed away - I'd like to actually do that as an RAF nightfighter.  How big are the booms in the Glencoe 48th-ish Venom?  They might be ideal

I've an assembled Vampire pod, but as there's weight in it, I may not use it.  I've a choice of wings - Frog/Novo, Magna or Special Hobby.  The latter has separate engines so it may be easier to fair the booms in.

Still building Spitfires though and that's not going to change for the near future.

Heritage Aviation Models Ltd has a few 1/24 aircraft kits, I might there.

Currently "japanizing" two Fw 190ies in 1:72, one as a clean IJN interceptor, the other one as an IJN night attack aircraft with an IR-guided gliding bomb (based on real projects of 1945).

Additionally, the idea of a Merlin-powered Westland Whirlwind becomes more concrete. I think that this has been done before, but I find the idea very charming, since I have a knack for compact twin-engined fighter aircraft.

A maritime/naval version of the B-747 in 1/144 scale. Fore and aft weapons bay.
AEW version of the Tu-20 1/100 scale similar to the 'Moss'.
1/24 Impala 1966 3 door van
1/24 Gran Tourer Austin FX4, I'll use the Chevy engine block, (lower the roof). Alloy wheels, redesign the boot/trunk.Loads of veneer or fake veneer on floor and interior doors/dashboard. A 'real world' Austin FX4 ex-London taxi/black cab has been converted to this design. I've seen a hearse, van and tow-truck, down
Brick Lane.

Bf 109 E with fixed landing gear!
Similar to the Hawk 75 N / M for export.

Eventually I'll get around to my Revell-ogram model of the USS Constitution...the big one, as her fictional sister, the USS Enterprise.  And yes, I know the US Navy had a sloop with that name.

If it was bolted to a 6 wheeler, minus the wing and propeller. I'll look out for a 1/24 kit!

I've finally decided to do a real "kitbash" for the first time since I was a young teenager and knew not the meaning of fear. Will involve turning 3 airframes into 1. Project I've wanted to do for years and as the kits are all old Airfix and in the stash it will be relatively inexpensive

1/72 scale

Either a KB-52J Stratotanker
or  a B-52 floatplane, (wings fitted upside down)
swing-wing B-52 (using the wings of my monogram B-1B) shorten the fuselage slightly.
