The de Havilland DH.89 Dragon Rapide looks promising. There was an experimental B-24 bomber with a similar layout.

I've been gathering info and images on the DHC Otter STOL research a/c. Some really interesting looking birds. Would like to have a go at one or more of them. Be an interesting display that's for sure.

B-24 with a similar layout to a DH.89 ? I'm obviously missing something here ?

A lower wing was fitted to a B-24 "India" for trial period and removed, to return to service by Convair.

How did they get the wheels up and down if there was another wing in the way?
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

I want to build a Blackburn Beverly type transporter in 1/48. I've suddenly found myself looking closely at recyclables...bottles etc. Wings, tailboom etc not a problem but finding that right 'thing' or 'things' to make a realistic body..... Might pop along to B&Q or Homebase and do some browsing.

For a 1/48 Beverley? A suitcase comes to mind...............  ;)

The lower wing housed the landing gear and the upper wing the engines. The follow-on concept would have been to lower the wing and undercarriage to a monoplane layout. This was never built, although there was interest by the USNavy and USArmy, both in the single vertical tail fin and twin fins.

I have not said anything in this thread before for a very good reason. I have so many things started, that have not been finished yet, the oldest one, that I can think of, being at least twelve years old now (Trident K1 of *&$%Sqdn RAF Germany).
There are two that are almost finished (Jetsream C-10A , and B-58A Hustler), I just need the weather to improve a bit. They both are at the stage of the final coats of varnish, but as the average temperature here is only a few degrees above freezing, and the humidity is on average 97%, AND my airbrush cabinet is out in the garage. Their ain't much chance of doing that at the moment.

As to how many ideas there are in my head, I honestly do not think the bandwidth available to this site could handle the amount of information. So I will not try to say.
Anyway, why say something and have lots of you (maybe at least two ) wondering where has it got to.

That's all from me at the moment, keep sticking the plastic,

Agreed, Kit!!   A large suitcase sounds about right..........but at least there will be room to store all of the other Whiffs inside!!

I see Magna Models sell the Boeing/ SAAB Felix B-17 which I'd love to build.
Transport or airliner
AAR
Float plane
Even AEW & C
But what if the same was applied to a B-29/B-50. Solid nose and no guns. B-17 cockpit on the upper fuselage, perhaps square tip wings. Extra windows for transport / airline version. Cargo with cargo  side doors on the rear fuselage.
The engines could be changed . I did this on the two outer engines with RR Tynes from the Revell Atlantic kit. The engines from the Revell Lockheed P-3C work just as well.
However the Tynes work well on the two inner engines but I had problems with the turboprops from the P-3C.
If RR Griffons are to be used most of the original engines will be needed as this isn't a straight forward swap. I found using changing the cowlings and gluing the Griffons in its place work best. Careful cutting and the two can blend together with just a touch of filler.
A definite future build, that's if another Whiffer doesn't try this first
