Not just carpet monsters but other things too.  I had a Spitfire 22 that had got as far as paint but I wasn't happy with it, so into a container and sprayed with Mr Muscle (I've ran out of FPS) and left outside to work it's magic.  Came back a few hours later - container upside down on the concrete and the Spitfire totally missing!

The Spitfire has revealed itself hidden amongst the weeds when I decided to howk some up prior to having a bonfire!  Still needs the paint stripped off.

Must have been an effective camouflage scheme! ;D

What if the Lockheed Constellation had a gondola fitted under the fuselage as a lower deck viewing platform. The entrance and exit via spiral staircase or lift. There would be plenty of ground clearance.
This could develop into a bomb bay or electronics / reconnaissance bay.
A fire-bomber or in-flight refuelling tanker with either the flying boom or pods.
Or even a long range fuel tank.

They did have a gondola fitted underneath, but used it for cargo rather than people.

A Speedpak would have had to be a tad deeper to carry humans, even while sitting, but the engineering had already been sorted.

Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

It's always been my intention to build a four engined Breguet Br1150 Atlantic.
The nearest kit that comes close is the Academy 1/72 Boeing C-97 Stratofreighter.
Oddly enough there was a study during May and June 1971 to examine using the Breguet Atlantique as a basis for an AEW under the Brough studies ASR.387. P139-00-221 was fitted with a pair of 8ft X 6ft FASS antennae powered by a pair of Rolls-Royce Sort 512 turbofans. P139-00-222 was to be fitted with the Hawkeye rotodome retaining it's Rolls-Royce Tynes.
To meet the Air Staff's four-engine requirement a four engined Atlantic could be kitbashed using both kits.

I've seen pictures of the Lockheed PO-1W (VW-2) Constellation.
RVHP do a conversion set in 1/72.
I think that I have the necessary parts to build this as it uses the smaller radome APS-20 size along with the height radar.
The resin engines can be bought from FlightPath.
This version will have the flying boom from the Academy KB-29P kit and wings.

I'd like to get a set of the Avro Shackleton marks in 1/72 scale and using the AlleyCat AC72046C Avro Shackleton T4 "Zebedee" resin kit on the Revell AEW2 model, although the conversion is for the Airfix Mk2 I have the AeroClub resin Mk2 resin weapons bay part in my stash.
AlleyCat have several Dakota conversions including a gunship, I did think of using a AC-47 as a donor for the Bristol type 170 but came across the Marsh Turbo Tracker with wingfold.
I have the Mach2 Grumman E-1B and the Falcon vacform conversion set, but have used various parts on my current builds, fortunately I came across the Hasegawa Tracker kit which would look good with the Hawkeye radome.

I have seen a few line drawings in book 'The Admiralty and AEW' that look like a kitbashed EA-6B Prowler with turboprop engines-BAC P.139C-6 and P.135C-7.
A proposal to use the Boeing-Vertol CH-47 Chinook as a helicopter AEW was put forward but deemed to expensive for the British Admiralty so they chose the Sea King instead.

I like to do mash-ups- putting together parts of otherwise unrelated aircraft.  One such on which I've been spending some time is based on the F7U Cutlass.  I've issues with some of the design of that unfortunate a/c - for instance, why not give the pilot a real bubble canopy?  But the real problem with the design was the gutless engines, so I thought - Why not give it some engines with some real power?  Those of the F4 Phantom, for instance.

So I've done a drawing of it, where I used the F-4s wings and engines on the F7s fuselage, undercarriage, and vertical stabilizers - here.  As you can see, the originals are right and centre, with the combination on the left.  I gave the pilot the bubble canopy all fighter pilots need, as well as enough power - more than double - to get in and out of trouble at will.  What do you think?
Thistle dew, Pig - thistle dew!

Where am I going?  And why am I in a handbasket?

As a citizen of Whiffworld, you can do just about anything you feel is appropriate (except mentioning rule six)  I like your idea; go for it!

You've now got me thinking of ways to build a model called 'Rule Six', but nothing comes to mind immediately.

But I'll be working on it.............  ;)

I'd like to carry on my topic of reducing four engined aircraft down to two.
On some of the modern casting the outer two engines can be omitted from the construction of the kit especially on certain Academy models whilst others require a plug or loads of PSR.
