Noticed on Defence-Aerospace,com that Eurofight er were also couting the the Danes over their F-16 replacement.
So was Dassaut and Lockheed, but the rafale went out of the competition :(

     Good one, elmayerle! That's sure, if you clip the wings of F-104, what stay ?
King Arthur: Can we come up and have a look?
French Soldier: Of course not. You're English types.
King Arthur: What are you then?
French Soldier: I'm French. Why do you think I have this outrageous accent, you silly king?

Well regardless I would rather take my chance out there on the ocean, that to stay here and die on this poo-hole island spending the rest of my life talking to a gosh darn VOLLEYBALL.

Yep... Sadly for us, cause a Rafale with other roundel than the French one could have been very cool!

But it appears quite a logical choice: the Rafale is very good in air defense role, but its above all a long range striker, so a Gripen or Typhoon could be a more usefull solution...
And for the F-35, it is a striker too, but the industrial and politic features are more interesting than the Rafale ones...  :(

You dont get it, the requirements of the competition said that it had to use US built systems. Of course, the reason theses requirements are here, is because Lockheed Martin as allways is attempting to win in an unfair way...

I remember having red that one of the 3 NF-104A (you know, those modified F-104 with rocket boosts) ended like this (another was crashed at the end of The Right Stuff :) ) and the third is exposed at Edwards AFB.

On my workbench (pending the arrival of the digital camera):
- Vickers 559 in Raspberry ripple
- HOTOL spaceplane
- F-117C
- B-40 Mixfotress (I've to find another name for this one)
and.. a surprise...

Radish

Wow....great '104 racer!
Think Lightning too!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

On the bench is an Academy 1/48th F4U-4B...Neopolitan colour scheme (think "ice cream"). Got the cocpit detailed and painted, the engine "in" and thefuselage together. The wings are "prepped" ready for assembly and although we're away again this weekend (Rocky Horror beckons again!) I hope to prime it on Monday.
Back story mostly sorted too.
I'll send pictures to Baz when it's done babies.

The 1/72 Sea Hawks just showed up today, one to make into a spurious preproduction prototype, the other into a PR variant.   The other kit, a F9F-3, is going to get a little trip to the plastic surgeon to time warp it forward a bit.

Gondor

I intend to finish my Avro Lancaster Mk XL in time for Cosford then finish several other builds I have cluttering up my modeling bench.

The first thing I need to build is a hidden, shielded modelling bunker where I can hide from all the people and things that want a piece of me....

Other than that:

Finish my Vebian Corsair-Hunter sci-fi model
Start my Vebian Buccaneer sci-fi model
Finish my Shorts Helivan (close)
Finish the Me P.1111 I just started instead of finishing the other three......

More than that I dare not speak of or "they" will hear me...... :banghead:
