What do you plan to build in near future?

This is the Super Hornet idea, going to call it a Hornet FAW.5

Thanks,

The original specification for the Hornet was it to have 'two' Merlin 130's with the future consideration to having contra-props. I've revisited that requirement and went with some modified Shackleton props (diameter reduced), tandem seat cockpit, larger nose for a radar scanner, and increased the size of the fin/rudder.  Also made myself some 200 Gal drop tanks which were specific to the DH Hornet (I got a photo of it from the DH Museum because I can not find anywhere a pic of a Hornet with them on even though various publications mention them being used mainly for ferry flights [and I have the Air-Britain book 'The Hornet File' which although has hundreds of photos of Hornets, doesn't have one with the 200 Gal tanks fitted on]).
Because the cockpit is the tandem seat arrangement, I'm going to put the cannon in an under-fuselage bulge and placed further back towards the trailing edge of the wing (to offset the weight being moved forward with the contra-props, tandem seat and radar equipment all up front).
If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

Dug out and started painting cockpits of a 1/72 Fw-190D which will have a WW1 Fokker D.VII scheme and a 1/72 A4 Skyhawk which will have a WW2 RNZAF 3-colour Corsair scheme.
Both from ideas Radish sparked with his discussion thread on Anniversary schemes...

Still working on the 1/35 M3A3 Stuart Recce conversion; just about ready to glue the hull top on, having cobbled an interior together from all sorts of sources.

Scratchbuilding cladding over a Nerf gun magazine, so it will look like a banana mag but still load and fire, and look suitably Bolt Pistol-ish...

That's about as far as I can see for the moment, but time will tell whether I get anything else underway alongside them...

Cheers

Been watching "Wheeler Dealers" on YouTube both the UK and USA series. Came across the Delorean DMC12.
I know you can get the plastic kit in Mk1,2 or 3 versions. Not too sure if they ever did a plane version without any special effects, but it just screams Lotus Esprit(e) to me. I know Lotus did do some work on the original design. The V6 engine could be replaced with a V8 and that steel painted. The interior needs to go dark, a pair of decent windows. Keep the gull doors or replace them? Might copy the design on my Jaguar XJ220.
Change the rear light cluster or darken the lens cover. Chrome wheels even try that new two-tone paint.
Maybe put the engine in the front and do something at the back, perhaps a race car version. Hughe rear spoiler and skirt kit.
Prices seem reasonable maybe two or three for the stash.

Lotus did a LOT of work on the De Lorean, they had to as it handled like a dog originally. With that big V6 hung out over the rear axle it needed some really trick rear suspension work.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

...and I'm not a closeted 'Take That' fan, I'm a REAL fan! :)

Captain Canada

I did a list on the very subject.

A floatplane version of the Bristol Superfreighter, could get the gunship treatment as well. Could change the engines as well.

Having had a peek at Chris Gibson- Nimrod's Genesis, the Marshall Valkyrie based on the Lockheed P-3C (Orion 2000) is doable without buying anymore kits. Page 194. So too is the Woodford proposal to fit turbofans on underwing pylons fitted to the BAe Nimrod, page 189. However the six engined version on page 163.
Still sticking to a jet version of the US-2A amphibious flying boat with Airfix BAe Nimrod parts.

Spey_Phantom

at the moment i have 3 1/144 Panavia Tornado's on the go, a 1/144 SA330 Puma and 2 1/72 SeaKings.

for now the larger sized planned builds are on hold, untill after the move in September. i might take up a couple of smaller easier builds until then.
but the future projects list looks as follows:

What If:

-2 x 1/144 Airbus A330-MRTT (Belgian and Canadian)
-various F/A-18E/F's
-Tornado ECR2/Jammer
-possible EF-16G jammer aircraft.(EF-111A replacement)
-various TinTin and Luft'46 builds in 1/72.
-etc.....

Real World:

-1/144 Phantom FGR.2
-various 1/144 Alpha Jets
-1/144 A-10C Thunderbolt
-1/144 F-4G Wild Weasel
-various 1/144 F-16A/B/C's
-2 x 1/72 NH90-NFH's (Belgian)
-etc.........
on the bench:

-all kinds of things.

There's a whole host of Whiffs to be built from the book, should have a Group Build inspired projects.
Came across the Vickers Vanguard study 'Vanguard 350', pages 130-133. Airfix do a 1/144 kit and Gene Hooked a vacform 1/72 (I think Welsh Models also do a kit).
As I've blown this year's budget on aircraft kits, I was thinking I could use the 1/72 Lockheed P-3C Orion kit- add a pair of RR Tynes from the Revell Br1150 Atlantic and a pair of turbofans from the Airfix Lockheed S-3A Viking kit. I could glue the ECM/ESM from the Atlantic or Nimrod to the vertical tail.

Another high altitude Mustang, this time a P-51D. Also, just noticed that the Airfix 1/48 Spit 22/24 wings fit the Seafire 17 almost perfectly so......

...and something else I've just spotted whilst footling around in the spares box after re-reading that thread on the J7W ;D.

Got 2 old Airfix Lancaster Kits.
Planning on cutting one in front of the bomb bay and the second behind it and joining them together.
Then the plan is to raise the upper decking behind the cockpit (similar to Shackleton) and widening the fuselage by 10 mls.
Cut the centre section from one wing and attach it to the other wing and then mount this wing to rear part of the fuselage in a high mounted position.
What's left of the other wing will go into the original attachment point on the on forward fuselage giving a tandem wing layout with 8 engines ( 2 in front and 6 at back).
Its going to be a bit of a monster so hope I can pull it off.

NARSES2

Wellcome aboard, especially with such an interesting sounding build
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
