I see, engines on aircraft  are no3 a strong  poin3 for me, so lots of reading  and  googling  shall be the order of the day when  I  do some  wiff RAF aircraft.

That  name  has rattled around,  as I  was wondering  if the engines from the meteor  would  fit in the Horten. I  haven't  looked at the  dynamics,  but it is wiffworld after all.
Chris

I would say Metro-Vick Beryl ----
Erm.....eh??  :o

The Saro SRA.1* was powered by a pair of them.

*jet powered fighter flying boat, Beryl, a British axial flow jet engine not related to anything German and built during the war. The second Meteor prototype to fly was powered by the earlier Metro-Vick version.

If I'm not building models, I'm out riding my dirtbike

I see, and  a perfect  fitment for the Horten  too. Marvellous,  cheers  Robert.

What I was thinking ---

The Beryl is what I used in my backstory for this, an operational XP-86 straight wing.

I like the  look  of that Robert,  an3 in a similar  time  frame  to the Horten  too. The  aircraft will be either a test and evaluation aircraft,  or  an in service  fighter aircraft during  the 50's,  not  sure yet

And Donald Campbell's Bluebird boat used a Beryl in its first version too.

Not the one that crashed and killed him, that was an Orpheus from a Gnat.
Kit's Rule 1 ) Any aircraft can be improved by fitting longer wings, and/or a longer fuselage
Kit's Rule 2) The backstory can always be changed to suit the model

Lots of information for the  back story,  brilliant stuff.  I  just  need to  photograph what I have done  so far  and  finish my current  builds, a joint  British  and French  project  nord griffon,  and  my Armstrong whitworth  meteor  missile  training  aircraft.  Then, lots of  stuff to  chip away at.

Chris, I've seen someone call their RafWaffe Horton an Amstrong Whitworth Skate - so there's that, FWIW.
IIRC they also added an extended radar nose, too.

The Wooksta!

I'm starting to think about this year's Plan items, but I've a feeling many could be stalled from last year and other part started builds.

Old Wombat

A 1/35 scale Tamiya Sd.Kfz 171 PzKfw V Panther Ausf. A as a version built by the Japanese from German supplied plans using 75mm Type 5 tank gun (actually fitted to only 2 tanks during the war & never fired in anger) made in "vismod" form using the Panther gun as a base but keeping the MG34's as supplied.

So near in the future, in fact, that I've actually started the build. ;D

Rheged

I've a 1/100 scale EE Lightning expected at chateau Rheged soon.  NASA may turn out to be the operators, or possibly the Commonwealth Space Group......

I was thinking what if Hogwarts had their own Navy?
Now that the VW Beetle has retired an estate version,  I saw a resin conversion for the original Beetle in 1/24 or 1/25 scale so it might fit the newer models.
Then there's the TAG Cadillac luxury estate/station wagon  utility vehicle and the Fait boatcar.

Only just  seen this for some  reason,  something along those kind of lines  could work,  and a thimble type radar pod scabbed on to the wing leading edge  maybe.

Whilst waiting for the  clear coat on my meteor to dry, and the white  paint on the A.S.511 to dry, I  pulled out another kit to build.  Although  it is very  small  and  of limited  parts  this next  kit is going to  need a lot of work doing to it.  This one will be an in service  Saunders Roe  S.R. 53.

NARSES2

Old Airfix or the newer AZ kit Chris ? The AZ kit is quite a nice build.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.
