I also have these kits sitting under the table ready for the start of the "Blue Lights" GB

... Which, from memory, I'm moderating.

You did indeed volunteer  I'll be dropping you and your co-mod a PM in the next couple of weeks.
Do not condemn the judgement of another because it differs from your own. You may both be wrong.

Jolly good!

Oh, why? Why? Why, do I do this to myself? :banghead: :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:

That Hasegawa excavator-type thing would look good on the hull of the Objekt - great for traffic control, you'd only need a large (mining-size) dump truck to put offending vehicles into... or a mobile car-crusher...  ;D

... sorry if I've stolen your thunder or given the game away...  :-X

I just saw an advert for the Wolseley 1000, built in South Africa. It's either a front ended Hornet with the Mini rear or a Mini with the Hornet front.  The largest scale Wolseley Hornet is in 1/43 and I have seen that you can buy the Mini bodies separately. So taking a cast from the Hornet and placing it on the Mini is a good start.  This could lead to the Countryman or even the BMW Mini having a new face as well.

The Hornet/Elf..

Ever since I saw one like this just north of London, I'm lost..

Hmm, not sure about that being a proper Elf, you can see the original Mini grille behind the scabbed-on Elf bits.

And I think it started off as a Minivan too, with the integral pressed steel grille rather than the chrome one.

He's obviously added the boot from a proper Elf/Hornet too. A real mix-and-match machine...............

Either that or he added the Minivan grille parts to increase the cooling for that undoubtedly tuned-up engine.

Speaking of "whiffed" cars, how about THIS:

That's a Mitsuoka Rock Star, a concept from 2019, and actually a Mazda MX-5 in disguise. While Mitsuoka has given us over the years rather doubtful (Viewt or Galue) or exciting (Orochi) cars and conversions, I actually like this one!  200 will be built  over the next three years.

BTW, they also did the "Ray", which looks strangely like the Wolseley 1000...!

It does, and that's the intention behind it. Sure, the fixed, small headlights look goofy, but it is not an overpowered high-end luxury item with 300+ hp, just a reliable, down-to-earth MX-5 with 130 hp, 4 cylinders and a new car body, much like the Abarth Spider (which quietly vanished...). I like the concept!

And it's also got the Mazda reliability and parts backup... and won't cost an arm and a leg to fill the tank or run. Or insure.

Cool looking li'l thing.

I've seen Minis with the Hornet/Elf wings and boot, although I'm not too sure whether they actually went into production or were just preproduction models. I think Crayford did a convertible version.
The 2004 Mitsuoka Ray is almost a copy of the Hornet/Elf and the Viewt copies the Jaguar Mk2 in a smaller scale. The  Yuga is another example.

I am absolutely certain you're right - and I don't care the least! It's a whif!!   ;D
