just found out we are getting 8 Chinooks in Edmonton and 8 for Petawawa. Not sure if they will be a medium lift flight within 408 Sqn or if they will be their own Sqn.

The ANG base on the other side of town from me (Columbia SC) just got several Chinooks as well. So far they have yet to fly over, but I've moved the valuable china off the shelves just in case!

Reform 447 Sqn!

I remember when the Chinooks were tkaen out of Canadian service back around 1990, sad day. I grew up in Edmonton and remember that distinctive sillouette in the sky.

My Air Cadet unit got some rides on 447 machines just before the retirement.

I heard about the possible Chinook purchase over the last little while, and I'm in the military, but nothing was concrete. Is it official today? And how long until delivery?

I wonder if they will reform my old unit, 450 (T) Helicopter Squadron. They flew the CH-147 out of CFB Ottawa (S). The old CFB Uplands.

Just found out a buddy of mine is going to Alabama in a few weeks to train on the Chinooks! I guess they are going with CH-47D for now, ones that are already in AFG which will be remarked with Canadian roundels. The idea of Griffons going to AFG has been quashed again.

PS - good to be back in Canada! I like the new look of the forum.
